Foundations for Graduate Study in Psychology

Specializations and Professional Associations The reason that I have chosen to specialize in general psychology research, is due to the fact that this specialization gives me the opportunity to engage in pertinent research activities that will be helpful in advancing knowledge in the field of psychology. In addition, this specialization will provide me with an opportunity to utilize the research findings as a means by which to help us to understand how to better assist those individuals that are suffering from psychological distress. This specialization also gives me a tremendous opportunity to engage in research to ascertain detailed information as to the plethora of differing internal and external variables that affect an individual's psychological experience and cognitive functioning. The general psychology research specialization was also chosen due to the fact that it provides me with an opportunity to continuously improve my research skills and knowledge. This specialization fits into my personal and professional goals, due to the fact that this specialization provides me with an opportunity to become a staff member with the American Psychological Association or other research organizations in a professional capacity. This specialization also helps me to obtain one of my most highly desired personal goals, which is to help others to live healthier and happier lives. This specialization will help me to obtain another personal goal, which is to establish my own nonprofit psychology research organization in order to provide employment to other individuals in the field of psychology. There are numerous opportunities for professional associates in this specialization in general psychology research, which includes the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the American Board of Sport Psychology,
