Analysis Of The Lazer Tag Grabel Games
It is the day of being chosen to have to go do the worst thing possible. It is the Lazer Tag Grabel Games. These games happen every 10 years, and it is a laser tag game with two teams (Red and Blue), if you get out, you fail and stay in school for the rest of your life. If you win, you get $10,000 and not have to go to school for 2 years. It is located at a plaI tice called the Web, and all the posters say, “March 20, 2020 will be the next Reaping. We will soon find out the six children from the U.S that will be chosen.” In case you don’t know, the Reaping is one period of class where they randomly choose your name out of a bag to see who gets chosen. It is in 5 days, and I am nervous about me and my best friend in my class, Liz.

Liz and I are all dressed and ready in the car waiting to go into school. We walk in and I see Quinn, Elli, Sebastian, Jaycee, Cooper, and all my other friends. I can see it in their face that they are just as nervous as I am, and all I want to do this moment is give them all a bear hug and cry uncontrollably. Mrs.Grabel comes up and says, “ No pressure, are you all ready?” Every time she says that adds a bit more pressure to it all, but I was ready as can be the get this over with. There are 60 people in the classroom, and only 6 get chosen so I am pretty confident at this point. She pulls 6 out, Kenzie, Alondra, Jake, Liz, Jaycee, and Emma. My heart starts pounding and I look over at Liz who is having a panic attack.
We go to the training center that lasts 2 hours. Jake says, “I’m a savage and definitely gonna win this game.” My confidence then lowers five notches. We all practice, and practice until it was time for the games. First, they had to split us up into the two teams and my only hope was to be with my best friend. Mrs.Grabel says, “Red Team:Liz, Emma, and Jake. Blue Team: Kenzie, Jaycee, and Alondra. I was so happy that no matter what happened, I would still be with Liz. I just had a gut feeling that it was our time and we were going to do

Today is perhaps one of the most important days of my life. It is the day I take my placement exam that determines which major you will be put into at the higher learning institution. Shakily I finish getting dressed for the day, I am adorned in a pair of navy pants and a grey button up with the number 84 on the cuff. Each year the society gives a number to every child born. I was the 84th child of the year so that is the number I was assigned, many of my other classmates have number ranging from 20 to over 200. I slip out of my room and jog to the end of my hall barely catching the last lift to the 97th floor where the test is administered. Not everyone gets invited to secondary school, for 75% of the world primary is the end, they didn’t pass, and would be taught trade jobs with little opportunity for advancement. Due to this pressure of the test looms over me and the memory of leaving my mother and family take over my mind almost daily.…

The main reason why I was so nervous is because the school I was coming from was very small and private. I went to Our Lady of Grace from kindergarten to eighth grade. The student body there was around two hundred and fifty at the time. There was only one teacher and class of about thirty students for every grade. There wasn’t a student or teacher that I didn’t know by name and because I had been going there since I was five years old, I really didn’t know any other way.…

I had to get up and chase down my girl, it was my duty. I couldn’t let my team down. I get right on her pushing myself to now stay with her. She has the ball. I give all my energy to stop her from going to the cage. She quickly dodges and blows right by me. I see the back of her ponytail and I knew I misplaced my feet. I was on my heels. I run as fast as I have ever run and thrash my stick forward to check her. My stick hits the top of hers for a clean black check. I race after the ground ball. I bend as low as I can making sure I don’t miss, and I sprint to the attacking side of the field. As I run it over the attacking line, the buzzer beeps. The game was over, we lost. I jog off the field leaping into Colleen’s arms. I didn’t care that we lost, I had my best game. It took all the confidence and everything in me to step up to the plate and I couldn’t have done a better job. Colleen gripped me tight breathing so hard placing her forehead against mine. We both couldn’t contain our…

Octavia was my best friend, or you could say, one of my only friends. She sat down next to me and sighed. “I really think that this time I failed my math test, Em…” she said sadly. I looked at Octavia and said sternly, “Octavia, for the last time you didn’t fail your math test, or any other test for that matter. You’re the smartest person in our grade, probably even the school. Don’t be so hard on yourself.” “I know, I know… but I can’t help but stress out.” She replied, pushing her rimmed black glasses up her nose. We sat in silence for about ten minutes, watching the practice. I observed the player’s agility and strength. They mesmerized me, how every play was set up in the same way and the rhythm at how the players seemed to practice. I was surprised that I hadn’t realized this before. My eyes were trained on one player. I squinted, trying to recognize him. At the end of the practice, when all the players took off their helmets, he looked unfamiliar. Huh. I thought. I know, or know of almost everyone in this grade. How come I don’t recognize him? Suddenly hit with a strange urge to get to know him better, an idea popped into my head. “Hey, Octavia,” I said, “how about we go to the game tonight?” Octavia stared at me in shock; I had never expressed an interest in any social events, much less football games. “Yeah, it’ll be fun!” I said excitedly. “Okay… if you say so Em…” Octavia said, unsure. Octavia wasn’t the biggest fan of the games either, and, aside from the fact that our other best friend played football, knew about as much about it as I did. Jake called up to us, “Hey guys! Are you ready?” “Yep!” we shouted back. Octavia and I made our way down the bleachers to meet Jake at the big yellow thing that was shaped like a “Y” at the end of the field. “Ready?” Jake asked again, once we were beside him. We drove home, all of us tired after a long day filled with learning.…

It was a chilly morning as the girls showed up to the field. There was a slight breeze, the noise of trees rustling and cleats on concrete filled the player's ears. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers filled the girl’s noses as they were walking towards the field. They had home field advantage, and everyone knew they always won when they were home. The Infield Diamonds; they were the team to beat. With Julia, their star player at first base; Emily at second base; Hailey at shortstop; Mackenzie at third base;…

8:01 AM, I’ve got just enough time to finish the last question on my history homework before the first bell rings. I was weaving my way through the crowd on my way to the library when my friend Josh interrupted my plan. He dragged me over to him saying, “Ty! Ty! I’ve got to tell you something.” Josh explained that he wanted me to join the Baseball team because of the new coach that signed up for the job. Immediately I interrupted saying, “There is a new coach?”. Josh explained that the coach was from a team that went to the state championship a couple years back. He thinks the new coach really going to really help me if I join, because I was not the “best” player last year. “Bzzzzzz” the bell was ringing for class. As I was walking toward first…

It’s game day, and the first time in twenty-three years that we might be able to defeat out school rivals, Turpin. But something didn’t feel like it should, after all it was the biggest day our team’s season. We had immense confidence in ourselves, being the higher raked state team, we expected to win this game then make a large tournament run. Little did we know that the rest of our season relied heavily on this game. Winning or losing this game would not end our season physically, but would emotionally ruin us, ultimately ending our season. The game began with a pleasant, almost soothing blow of the whistle and ended with the blood-curtailing screech of the referee’s dagger, sending shivers down my spin. The roar of our crowd stopped and…

It was her very first basketball game. Chase came with me to, my older brother, Nate’s basketball game. We arrived just as the Chelsea Hornets were getting ready. The warmth of the gym wrapped around our bodies, and the scent of teenage boy sweat filled our nostrils, making me almost retch. Chase sounded very excited when she asked me, “Where should we sit?” As any normal little girl would do, we both raced each other to the top of the blue high school bleachers and sat down in sync. My mom, little brother, Soren, and older sister, Lexi, followed behind the two of us while Nate ran out to the court to join his Chelsea Hornet basketball buddies. The game went on with the Hornets losing by seven points. Moms among the crowd were yelling about unjust fouls made towards their team.…

The day has finally come; it’s the last day of cheer. After days of constant cheering, dancing and stunting, it was the day either for my dreams to be crushed or for them the come true. I couldn’t decide what to wear, what to expect, whether to wear a bow or not. My life is a hot mess at the moment. I am freaking out. I’m giving my self a pep talk trying to get my life together. Then all of a sudden I thought, “What am I talking about I am not confident in myself.” That is big problem because the whole point of being a cheerleader you need to confident and positive. “What did I get myself into?” “Why did I even tryout?” “None of the girls are going to accept me on the team.” Then I looked at the time. I had thirty minutes till I had to be there. I had nothing to wear, and I haven’t done my hair.…

Cameo came over the intercom and listed off some seventh and eighth graders to report to Mr. Phalen’s office after class. As she started reading the names off the list, I didn’t think she was going to call my name. Until she said the last name and it was “Ashley LaBounty”. While everyone else was looking around ;confused I knew exactly why I was being called to Mr. Phalen’s. It was for Honor Choir. I had noticed that the last couple weeks, while in choir, he had been watching some individuals (including me) very closely. He was examining how well we sing and if we would qualify for Honor…
