Alien Warthog-Personal Narrative
A very large alien warthog-looking thing tries to stop me at the stadium entrance. I think it was trying to ask for my ticket or something. I barely even feel the back of my hand connecting with its flabby cheek. The pig-man is completely caught off-guard by my strength and is sent head first into the composite metal wall beside him.

I pause a moment to study my hand. About fifty percent of my body is now covered in thin ribbons of whatever material the cube was made of. What I can only describe as glowing circuitry decorates the thin strands of golden material.

I clench my fist. I can feel power surging through my body. Not quite as much as when I was wearing the Everbright champion suit – but close. I’ll have to remember to thank Center

I land hard and have the wind knocked out of me. Loud laughter fills the air and mixes with the roar of the crowd. A familiar blob of flesh sits at the controls of a large utility robot. Its vice grip hands open and close in a menacing fashion. The floor bounces a tiny bit as it begins walking toward me with its industrial sized legs.

“I knew you couldn’t stay away. It was nice of you to giftwrap yourself for me. I’m going to enjoy popping you like a grape, Prisoner 776!”

Pop me like a grape? His insults I can take; incorrect fruit metaphors though? That has to stop.

The crowd roars and try as I might, I can’t help taking a quick peek at the girl fight happening beside me. Jennifer is picking herself up off the floor – I think I see blood. Nope. Must look away.

The Games Master roars as well and launches one of the industrial sized vice grips at me. Apparently he can fire them off like grappling hooks.

I manage to catch it – man, I really am strong! Thanks again, Center!

A moment later, however, I’m yanked off my feet as Warden Jefferson reels the vice grip back in. Apparently it has a cable attached to the end. That makes

A time when I took the lead in solving a problem in my community was when I chose my Eagle Project. I wanted my project to impact as many people as possible and I also wanted to give back to the organization that had sponsored my scout troop for so long. I looked over the church grounds and found a need. The church, borders the Harpeth River in Franklin, TN and members can choose to have baptisms done in the river. The problem that existed was that the baptismal site wasn’t safe for those partaking in it or viewing it. The riverbank is steep and there wasn’t a safe place for families to view the event. An old triangular deck was present, but it was small, not adequately anchored and had poorly attached rope rails. My goal was to construct a…

Hello I am Kiowa’s lieutenant from the Alpha Company, I would like to give some background information about me to you guys. I am a sophomore in college and I had joined up for the Reserve Officer Training Corps because it was worth a few credits and few of my friends had joined, making me want to join. In all honesty I do not care about this war and I have no desire on becoming a team leader but I have ended up as the leader of Kiowa and his friends. I am insecure about the decisions I would make, leading me to make two of my soldier’s death. The first death would be a soldier named Ted Lavender. Instead of focusing on my men I focus on a girl who I deeply love and the fact that I care more about my love more than my men makes me and unworthy…

On Saturday, I have attended a Pow Wow that was happening at the California State University of Long Beach. I knew what kind of event it was because this was my second time attending one. At the first Pow Wow, I was able to take the opportunity to volunteer for them and helped them out with the resting area for the dancers and other miscellaneous tasks. I also had the chance to walk around and explore what was provided and stayed at the event until the end. It has been over two years since I had gone to the first Pow Wow so I was excited to see once again the beauty and the uniqueness of the Native Americans and their culture.…

    Personal Narrative: Pow

Pow! Right smack in my forehead crushing my skull. The metal baseball bat knocked in my skull. It was a warm sunny day in the middle of the summer. Joey, my brother, was hitting tennis balls over my house. Little 10 year old me was playing in the yard and my brother purposely pushed me far away so he wouldn’t hit me. Oh how I was a stupid little kid. I was intrigued by what he was doing so I started wandering over to like how not knowing little kids do. As I approached my brother he was so focused on himself that he did not see me. When I finally reached him he had just set up to hit another ball. He hits the ball, but on his back rotation, the bat makes contact with my head. I fell hard on the pavement. Before I went unconscious I heard my…

My heart leaps out of my throat and I gulp as the creature’s pale white eyes glare into my soul. The intoxicating smell of blood floods my nostrils. Blood slowly trickles down her chin and her once friendly face is now without emotion. Taking a step back, I glance behind me and see my razor-sharp machete lying on the ground, no more than twenty feet from me. I glimpse a final time at my best friend and bolt over to my machete, picking it up quickly. I then sprint straight for my backyard a few blocks away.…

As I throw myself over the eleven-foot concrete wall with barbed wire at the top, I can hear gunshots all around, and I pray they are not intended for me. I hit the cold, hard ground on the other side, but I am not even close to being safe any time soon. I am in no mans land now. I would be better off asking for someone to shoot me than to make it out of here alive. I have only one chance.…

The orange creature swiftly creeps into the room to the right and retrieves a sharp pointed object. It glimmers in the moonlight. He disappears back into the room and stumbles in, clutching a bowl of fresh, clear water. He clumsily slams the bowl of water on the floor beside my holding cell. A sharp scraping sound pierces my ears as the orange creature begins to dissect the mesh from the window beside my cell. He nods in satisfaction when he finishes. Then, he circuits back to the other side of the room. In an instant, the creature is airborne, soaring high above my cell and into the window, shattering the glass. I hear the pale creature croak “what the…..” from above and I know my time is coming soon. The pale creature quickly bounds down the stairs and rounds the corner to the window. His hairy, giant, bare stomach presses against my cage as it struggles to see what caused the broken window. I know this is my only shot, so I lunge. I heave my cage over the edge of the table, slamming against the pale creature. It whines in pain. At the last second, I heave a hefty breath and leap. I taste the icy air surrounding me. Somehow, I land with a certain grace I never knew I possessed in the bowl. The pale creature clutches its stomach and deflates in pain. The orange creature reappears from the outside and plucks my bowl in its mouth. He scuttles out the window to…

As it approached the middle of the night I ever so carefully I moved my pick. Inch by inch eventually I unlocked my manacles –I didn’t drop them no they would be useful later. They thought I was crazy ha I was ten steps ahead of them. I crawled to the door left open –as usual why bother locking a lunatic’s door. The door creaked open flooding the room with light. No one was insight –now I had to wait patiently for one of those monsters to come. One of them came eventually – with each step the beating grew more and more intense. No this was no time for distraction I had to concentrate. But it grew louder and louder I can’t think. I let out a primal yell so loud I thought the beating had stopped…

As a kindergartener, when I grew up I wanted to be a princess, or own a hamster farm, or never really grow up at all. In second grade I developed an obsession with the ocean and what lives in it, specifically sharks. Because of my love of sharks I decided that when I grew up I wanted to be a marine biologist. When I made this decision I never knew what a big part math played in this profession. Math has always been my biggest weakness when it came to my education. I would spend hours trying to understand all the numbers and what to do with them. I know now regardless of my love of the ocean, I would have ended up being miserable having to spend the rest of my life constantly feeling confused and idiotic.…
