Do you know who is the face on our ten dollar bill? It is none other than Alexander Hamilton himself. Alexander Hamilton was one of the Founding Fathers of The United States of America. He lived for 47 years from 1755 or 1757 to 1804. He is best known for co-writing the “Federalist Papers” with John Jay and James Madison. He was also the Secretary of Treasury. Hamilton had a very interesting background along with a great record of accomplishments, he is just like a modern day Donald J. Trump.

Hamilton’s mother was Rachel Fawcett Lavien who was married to John Lavien. Hamilton’s biological father was a Scottish trader named James Hamilton. John Lavien was a very abusive husband towards Rachel. He was so abusive that he threw her in jail for having an …show more content…
When she was released instead of going back to her horrific marriage she went to St. Kitts where she settled down to live with James Hamilton. They had a son together, named Peter, before Alexander Hamilton was born. James Hamilton Sr. abandoned the family after they moved back to St. Croix. Not long after his father left, Hamilton got a job at 11 years old to help support his family. After his mother had been working tirelessly to support her family, she died at the age of 38 in 1768. After his mother's death, he worked as an accountant clerk in St. Croix. His employer was quickly impressed with his work.     The reason I was able to see the impact they had on our country is because John E. Ferling, the author, described the hardships and successes of each person in great detail starting from the very beginning and continuing on all the way to the very end of their lives. John E. Ferling approached this book with a higher opinion of Jefferson, but gained greater appreciation for Hamilton towards the end. I enjoyed learning more about the forming of our nation and the lives of some of our founding fathers. I am inclined to learn more about the characters in the book because the play, ‘Hamilton’ on Broadway is something I’ve wanted to see for a while. I’m interested to see how similar and accurate the play is compared to the book. This author’s writing style is something I enjoyed reading, but I don’t think reading another one of his books is something I’d take part in.
