A Character Analysis Of Tikki-Tavi, By Rudyard Kipling
Rikki-tikki-tavi is the main character in the story, “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling. Rikki is an almost new born mongoose that got washed onto an Indian bungalow by a terrible flood, and was taken under the wing of an English family. The Mother, Father and their son Teddy . While exploring the garden he found that there was a great conflict between the snakes and the rest of the people, that Rikki was going to fix. He is a helpful, valiant, and daring mongoose. The first character trait that Rikki-tikki demonstrates is being helpful. At the beginning of the story Teddy walks out of the bungalow and says, “oh, look here! Our mongoose is killing a snake” (20) the snake that Rikki killed was Karait that was causing havoc in the garden, Rikki was being helpful and stopping the havoc by killing Karait. In another situation in the story the father says ”...the little chap has saved our lives now …show more content…
At the end of the story Rikki was trying to kill Nagaina, Nag's villainous wife. They were both trying to get rid of Rikkis family by killing them so their kids could have room to grow. This plan got side tracked when Rikki-Tikki was very daring by provoking Nagaina and smashing her eggs. Moments after Nagaina was already mad Rikki did this “...Brought Rikki-tikki up to her, and as he plunged into the rat hole where Nag used to live.”(26) This was a truly daring move because it is like going into the enemy's home it is a maze for you but the enemy knows it like the back of his hands and can strike whenever he or she wants. Now that I have stated all of my character traits I will sum the whole essay up. I believe that Rikki-tikki is a very helpful, valiant, and daring mongoose I have proven my point several times throughout the essay and I believe that I have very good points. I have chosen these character traits out of many more because I believe that he demonstrates these traits the

When fighting with Nagaina, she went down to a hole “and she plunged into the rat hole where she and Nag used to live, his little white teeth were clenched on her tail and he went down with her and very few mongooses- however wise and old they maybe, care to go into the hole.” (27) This shows how brave Rikki-tikki was since none of the mongooses will ever go down, but he did because “Rikki-tikki knew he must catch her or all the trouble will begin again.” (26) Another time he showed bravery was when Nag was in the water jug he risked his life to jump in there and hold on. “Then he jumped. The head was lying a little clear from the water jar, under the curve of it; and as his teeth, Rikki braced his back against the bulge of the red earthenware to hold down the head. This gave him one second purchase, and he made the most of it. Rikki Tikki is a brave character in this story. In one example, Rikki said to Nag, “Do you think it is right for you to eat fledglings out of a nest?”(para 25). Rikki Tikki stands up for his friend Darzee to let Nag know that he made a bad choice. Darzee now knows that Rikki is a good friend that will never let him down. Tom Sawyer, a mischievous, brave, and daring boy who finds himself caught up in adventures of murder, love and treasure hunting. One may question whether or not Tom is a good role model. On the surface, it appears that Tom is neither an entirely good nor entirely bad role model, but rather a boy maturing from a troublemaker into a young man. Tom’s behavior and treatment of others prove him to be a negative moral role model. In the end Tom's conscience helps him make good decisions, Sometimes his friends and his mind wants them to go on adventures and mess around, in the end he is not a good kid in today's world.…
