Tom Sawyer Role Model
Tom Sawyer, a mischievous, brave, and daring boy who finds himself caught up in adventures of murder, love and treasure hunting. One may question whether or not Tom is a good role model. On the surface, it appears that Tom is neither an entirely good nor entirely bad role model, but rather a boy maturing from a troublemaker into a young man. Tom’s behavior and treatment of others prove him to be a negative moral role model. In the end Tom's conscience helps him make good decisions, Sometimes his friends and his mind wants them to go on adventures and mess around, in the end he is not a good kid in today's world. Tom is an average kid that goes to an average school but he hangs out with a bad influence, Huckleberry Finn, who has led him in a bad direction in tom's life. One big thing that Huck led tom to leave his home, go to an island, and not tell anyone and stay there for awhile. Huck’s father is not a very good man, he the town drunk, which is the reason for Hucks bad behavior. Another reason Tom is a bad role model is because he always requires to be the center of attention even when it causes other people harm. This is because tom is somewhat of an only child and no one left in his own family is left to comfort him, the only two people are aunt polly and sid, but sid is a real nuisance to tom and his friends. Toms behavior also breaks out when he tries to get out of trouble and chores. He lies when it comes to chores and tricks aunt polly when he is in trouble. Lastly they failed to tell the truth when it came to the murder.tom should've gone to the police and tell them that Muff potter was innocent. In the real world today what they did is illegal. and they let muff potter suffer in prison for something he didn't do.Tom's conscience helps him make good decisions, His friends and his mind wants them to go on adventures and mess around, but in the end he is not a good kid in today's

    Most books read in high school end up being stories of the coming of age time for the main character. For Huck Finn this is no exception. Throughout his journey along the river he changes as a person from being a boy to a man. He starts out as a carefree and uncivilized boy attempting to break free from the constrains of civilization. He takes nothing seriously and everything is a temporary pleasure for him. This attitude was clearly expressed when Huck and a few of the other boys meet with Tom Sawyer to discuss creating a band of robbers. Huck readily offers up Miss Watson, one of his guardians, as a sacrifice if he broke the rules. This earlier version of Huck didn’t think twice about killing off one of his loved ones. Later however, Huck’s morality develops and he matures into a thoughtful and loyal young man who understands such things such as “…it don’t make no difference whether you do right or wrong, a person’s conscience aint got no sense,” (175). It was a few moments like that in the book that show that Huck really came of age and that he had grown up and his character had really changed.     Tom shows himself to have many faults in Huckleberry Finn, including the failure to tell everyone that Jim was actually a free man and not a slave. However, when Tom gets shot and Jim saves his life, he admits the fact that Jim is free and Jim is repaid to a degree for what he had been through. This shows how Tom’s views are very self centered in that he wants glory in actually saving Jim instead of just allowing him to be free. Being shot and having Jim save his life, allows Tom to see the fact that maybe he doesn't need the glory provided in saving Jim. Rather than attaining glory, he can instead free his friend who was already, technically, already free. Being shot is not exactly natural, but as a result of being in nature, Tom sees a new view of life when his life hangs in the balance, which allows his views to change.
