2.1 criteria establish boundries as a helper in a particular setting and within the limits of time available
I want to share how much I enjoyed week five , it was one of my most

enjoyable weekly sessions of this course so far. There was a bit of

laughter and easy going fun, with one of our helper/helpee practise sessions.

For one of our helper/helpee role practises was breaking the ‘boundaries’

from a helpee towards a helper. While role playing I was the ‘helpee’ and

I purposely had to go over the line, and express and say unnecessarily

things, as well as ask my helper questions like ”what do you think I

should do” and “would you do that, im right aren’t’t I?” I used what we

were told to see how our helper would react and how they would respond

by this, with them using there helper skills. Carrie’ who was my helper

responded by asking , “ Why do you feel that’s important” As well as

paraphrasing back what I had shared with her, I also went on to ask more

questions, and she replied, “This is your time, its about you”. As a helper

that was a very competent approached through role play even though I

was trying to break the boundaries, the helper remembered her skills. I

feel this was the best outcome for her to say back towards me.

On one of our ’triad’ works, what we did was to also break the ‘Boundaries’.
When it was my turn to become a helper, I started by going through my

confidentially and boundaries. Stating our time boundaries, as I feel

that its very important, our session was for only 10 minuets through

practise, but in a real life situation, and a helpee/clinent had turned up 20

minuets late and there appointment was for 50 minuets, and it started at

9.00am and they didn’t attend till 9.20, the appointment would still end at

9.50am, as I belief this boundaries must be kept to, professionally to the

helper, and even more towards the helpee, so they can understand the

time boundaries of the session, so they know that is just as important for

them,

Although I had a lot of major projects, I also assisted with smaller tasks. Some of these tasks needed to be completed prior to my other projects. For instance, the new HRIS HealthStream was launched on June 8th 2016. After my training, I helped label and stuff envelopes which contained usernames and passwords for all employees to access their HealthStream account. Afterwards, they had to be placed alphabetically and separated into their departments. The paperwork and mailing essentials arrived less than a week before the launch. This meant the whole HR department, including myself, was responsible for getting all of the employees their paperwork before the launch. This minor task was so important that I even volunteered to come in during my…

While courts provide an essential service to our society, there are times when taking an issue before a court is not the best option. Litigation can be costly and time consuming; which is why Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has become a valued form of handling legal matters, as it can help resolve a case more quickly and economically (Alford & Kaufman, 1999). Understanding ADR involves recognizing its purpose, looking to see how it can be applied in a situation, and supporting and understanding the provisions for which an ADR can effectively take place.…

3.5 I encourage children and young people to try and deal with issues and conflict themselves, by mentoring them so that they know right from wrong and are therefore able to make the correct choices. If a situation arises where children disagree then I try to allow them time to discuss their opinions and come to a mutual agreement that is suitable and appropriate to both sides. Making sure that the children have the opportunity to express their emotions using a calm and measured approach. Allowing the children to discuss various ways that they could solve their problem or issue and finding a resolution using the best way forward to do this. One way of getting this message across to children could be by reading a story book that involves a conflict between people but is ultimately resolved with a positive outcome.…

In the summer of 2016 I volunteered at the Randolph hills nursing center as an assistant helper. I was assigned various tasks that I completed on a daily basis, one of which was helping the elderly with their daily activities. As an assistant, I would be charged with the transportation of patients on wheelchairs to their destinations, getting requested goods from the store and informing the managers of things the elderly request . I was also tasked with the role of serving food to the elderly during breakfast, lunch and even snacks requested. Another one of my responsibilities included notifying the elderly of any recreational activities taking place at the time and transporting them upon their approval. As an assistant helper I was also charged…

In Middle school, my classmates used to call me "The therapist" or the girl version of Dr.Phil. My reputation was the person everyone poured their hearts out to. Now it is a common perception that kids our age couldn’t possibly have problems. Now I can't speak for all, but for us kids growing up in Randolph and living with parents that survive from pay check to pay check, we had real problems. That we probably shouldn’t have had at such a tender age. Helping people always brought out a certain burst of happiness in me even though I barely knew how to deal with my own trials and tribulations.…

Within this assignment I will explore the ways in which I relate to others. I will identify any barriers or difficulties which could affect my ability to relate to others and therefore have an adverse effect on my role as a helper. Egan (1994) states that to be a fully developed helper, a key component is self awareness. He also suggests that there can be a “shadow side” to helping, which can adversely affect the outcome of the helping process.…

I started out by attending an orientation for new volunteers. During this time I filled out paperwork, confirming I was eligible to start volunteering. Days later I contacted Kara, the volunteer coordinator, and asked what I could do to start volunteering. She suggested I start out with dishes, laundry, and cat socialization. So that’s just what I did, I started helping out with dishes. I cleaning the food bowls, syringes, litter boxes, pooper scoopers, and toys. Another task I helped out with was laundry. I washed, dried, and folded heaps of blankets, towels, toys, beds, and leashes.…
