1.2 Explain The Importance Of A Child Routine
As I have experienced during my practicum hours, routine is one of the teacher best friends. In order to time manage effectively, the teacher has to implement a well organized routine that children can predict. Transitions, guidance and behavior management go hand to hand. As a teacher I will explained to the children our daily routine, what is expected from them, and what are going to be the activities of the day. In special occasions when the normal routine changed, I will notify them as well. Transitions are, also very important. They help children predict what is next during the day and prevent negative behaviors. I will set song, 8, 5, 3 minutes warnings to switch activities and verbal instructions. Guidance must be in place at all times

I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions allowing growth in in their development of self and others. Each morning I ensure that I greet each child and parent when they arrive. In greeting the child I will always address the child by his/her name and encourage the other children to say good morning. I feel this gives the child and parent a sense of trust and security for a safe and secure environment and this acknowledgment makes the child feel special and welcome in the class. In the mornings I also have open centers where the children can go around and greet the other student and to move and work at their own pace. I also find some way to praise the class and each child daily. I provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and proud of themselves. All children have different rates of development and different personalities. Knowing this can help us be patient. I show children that I really care about them by accepting each child as an individual. I help children with developing social skills, Self- control, problem-solving skills, and the ability to act independently.…

I being a practitioner must be accepting and fair to all children, parents and families that attend the nursery. My setting is open to all types of families, cultures, religions, disabilities and so on. We believe that our nursery is a setting that likes to include everyone as a community. For example, we have children and parents, who are physically disabled, therefore to include this family, have ramps enforced by the front of the nursery and by each and every door in the setting because we believe that everyone should be given the same equal opportunities as others. Just because someone has a physical disability causing them to be in a wheelchair, does not mean they shouldn’t have the same right as everyone else in the sense of attending…

D5&B1- It is important to phone the placement and check where the placement is and ask for directions if you are not sure, so that you will not get lost and be late to placement, which means also checking what time you have to arrive to placement because parents also make judgements on observations they make briefly, good first impressions reassure them. Also even arrange a pre-visit so then you will know where the placement is ready for whenever you start and discuss the things you need to know. Checking the dress code is very important because you will need to look presentable and be identified as a student and not a staff member. Also checking what equipment you need to bring with you to placement is important so you can carry on with what your expected to do and so that you are organised, also so that you are respected as an individual that cares, hardworking, so may be given extra responsibilities which leads to greater learning and enjoyment in placement. It’s very important you ask who you go to for advice/per-diaries so that you feel confident you can speak to someone when you feel the need to, and get your per-diaries filled out when due to. Plus you will need to find out the policies and procedures, this is very important so that you keep to your boundaries of what you can and can’t do, and anything that is expected of you like safeguarding which should always be taken into consideration if there was a situation…

As a professional I attend regular trainings both in and out of work. Some training is provided for me by my employer, while others I seek out on my own. In June I attended training for 2 weeks before children started attending class. These trainings focused on areas such as health, routines and transitions, environments, goals/objectives and school readiness. One way I apply these trainings is by setting a routine in the classroom and remembering to abide by it, while allowing some flexibility as the children need it. It is important to keep a routine so that the children know what to expect. A routine helps children to stay focused…
