VAK Learning Styles
Introduction
VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic learning styles. VAK helps to provide a simpler way to help someone to understand their own learning styles. Everyone has different ways that they like to learn in and how effective that learning style is for them. Some people may have a more than one type of learning style. For example, during a previous lesson we took a questionnaire independently to find out what was the best learning style was for us and my results showed that I am a visual learner and I believe this to be true as I like to look at examples and watch video clips to help me to complete a task however I believe that I am a kinaesthetic learner as well as I like to be hands on with certain tasks.

The second stage of the cycle is where the learner would step back from the task and look at different perspectives on what has been done. At this stage the learner may question themselves or others around them to see how they have got that far with the new task. Some of the activities that this stage could include: writing a short report on what had happened throughout the task, giving feedback to themselves or the others in the team, they may take breaks throughout the task to write down and log what they have done so far throughout the

A learning style is the way in which a person processes new information. In the learning system there are three main types of learning which are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. People may learn best by being taught with the three learning methods, but others may not. Visual learners are people who learn by seeing. These people learn more where there are images, graphs, diagrams, and colors involved. Visual learners are learners that first have to see what they are expected to know. Auditory learners learn best by hearing. Lastly, there is the kinesthetic learners, also known as tactile learners, those learners learn best by the physical activity. In a class the students’ way of learning might not be the way the professor…

I have always been a visual learner, although I did not realize the technical term for my condition as a child, once I became an educator and became aware of the various ways to classify learners based on their abilities and learning style, I quickly discovered who I was and was able to classify myself accordingly. Visual learners are more inclined to gain knowledge through physical interaction and hands on experience with tools they can see, rather than through verbal instructions or explanations. However, it has been my experience that all types of learners find visual aids helpful, even f they are just used as supplemental information to enhance the knowledge they gained through verbal communication. Visual aids, such as process flow charts, are…

There are many factors that can have an influence on my learning. One of them is my friends. My friends can influence my learning by distracting me during lessons and also by helping me to catch up on work. In some ways, friends can motivate me because they encourage me to do my work and to get my assignments done on time. They also motivate me because they assist me with my work when I need it instead of waiting to ask a tutor which cannot be done as easily; I can easily call a friend. Friends have a positive influence on me because they are aware of the things that I am doing so that they know what I should be working on, mainly because my friends are all doing the same course as me. A negative affect that they have on my learning is sometimes we spend a whole lesson going off topic and talking about what happened on our weekends which is something that can be discussed on the lunch breaks rather than the all important lessons.…

After completing the learning style assessment, the results revealed that I am a visual learner. My score was the highest in the visual category. These are the characteristics of a visual learner: They have strong visualization skills and they can look up (often up to the left) and “see” the information invisibly written or drawn. To add, they are able to make movies in their mind about information previously read and give vivid details. They have visual spatial skills such as sizes, shapes, texture, angles, three-dimensional depths are strong. Also, they have a keen sense of the aesthetics, the beauty of physical environment visual media, or art. I learn better by seeing graph, and charts in my notes or color coding for organization of information. Certainly, these…
