VARK Analysis paper
There are several styles of learning that are used by individuals. VARK is an acronym that stand for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic that is used for measuring an individuals style of learning. These different learning styles will be discussed as well as ways to improve study habits to best fit this authors learning style.
Visual learners retain information best when they are able to use flow sheets, maps, diagrams or models when learning new information. This type of learner needs to observe the material in an attractive manner. The visual learner will do best if studying using pictures, logos, designs, colors, or flow charts. Seeing the picture as a whole makes it easier for the visual learner to make sense of and retain the information presented to them.
The aural learner would benefit best when having material explained to them. Written words to them are not as easily retained or preferred as when having the material explained. This type of learner prefers to listen rather than take notes. Aural learners benefit when they are able to discuss the information needing to be learned.
Read/write type learners prefer to learn by reading or using list. This type of learner uses books, power point presentations, takes notes, and uses essays as learning tools. This type of learner will read their notes repetitively, and can also be found to read silently, and may prefer their notes to be in list form. Aural learners will also rewrite ideas and principle that were learned in the classroom in order to retain the information that was presented to them.
Kinesthetic learners tend to experiment and use a more hands on approach for learning. Some learning methods that the kinesthetic learner will use to retain information would be role playing, verbalizing with

The VARK Learning style assessment was developed by Neil Fleming in 1987 as a way to improve the development of teachers and to help students become better learners. The VARK inventory categorizes four different sensory modalities with an extra category for multimodal students (Marcy, 2001). The acronym VARK stands for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic learning modalities. Visual learners are students who learn by seeing information displayed using graphs, pictures, or diagrams. Aural learners prefer to hear the information, and process it best by listening to lectures or having information read aloud. Learners that fall into the read/write category thrive on seeing written words, and do best when they take meticulous notes and read them over and over. And lastly, kinesthetic learners do best when the student is partaking in physical activity. These learners need to move around and work manually with ideas and thrive with hands on activities. The additional multimodal category consists of students who fall into more than one sensory modality of any combination (Nelson, 2013). The VARK inventory is one such tool that is easy to use and can give students information on how to maximize their learning. After completing the VARK questionnaire, my learning style was determined to be multimodal with preferred modalities in visual and kinesthetic.…

The learning is a insatiable curiosity that drives a individual to absorb everything he or she reads, hear or sees. Learning is process by which information is acquired, retained and reproduced when necessary. Learning involves understanding the world by reinterpreting knowledge. There are various ways of learning that are used by the individuals to acquire knowledge. Neil Fleming developed and perfected the art of visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic (VARK) learning. This method makes user understand their learning style. Neil Fleming developed a questionnaire that contains sixteen questions, which when answered, according to the perception of the individual, produces answers about the individuals learning style. With Vark, the four styles are visual, auditory/aural, read/write and kinesthetic learning. Each differs in its preferred method for intake or output of information. Students can also be multimodal, which means they have more than one preferred method. By using VARK, they can identify their style and take responsibility for their learning (Rogers, 2009). The VARK website reports that analyzing the statistic of the questionnaire is difficult, due to the structure of the test. The test is completed by mostly students and teachers so it does not represent the population as a whole (Fleming, 2001-2011).…

The VARK analysis quiz is to evaluate learning styles. VARK stands for Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic. When taking the quiz, the scores indicated that there was a multi-modal preference for learning. Multi-modal indicates “multiple preferences which gives the learner anywhere from 2-4 modes for learning and communication with others” (VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Questionnaire, 2013). It gives the learner an arsenal of tools to use to communicate, teach, and learn vs. one preferred method. A majority of learners are distinguished to be multi-modal (VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Multimodality, 2013). Within the multi-modal world, there are different theories or “approaches” to describe the multi-modal learner. One is the context specific approach. The learner “looks at the info that is to be learned and chooses the mode that is best for the situation (VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Multimodality, 2013). Another way to look at multi-modal learning is the whole sense approach. This mode “uses the various modes in combination to make decisions, learn, and present materials to others. The learner feels unsure about using only one way to learn a new subject, and will use other modes to review learning”(VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Multimodality, 2013).” This method of using multiple ways to “reinforce learning is the only way a multimodal learner feels they truly understand new material” (VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Multimodality, 2013). Sequencing is another approach to understand multi-modal learning. Learners “switch modes depending on how in-depth of learning they wish to achieve, whether it be comprehensive, simplistic, or moderate. This theory suggests that there is a primary learning style, and the learner switches to other modes depending on how well they wish to learn the material (VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles…

The Index of Learning Styles also presents three types of learners. The firs type of learner is Visual. These learners tend to picture imagoes in their minds when reading, writing, speaking and studying. (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). The second type of learner is Auditory. These learners retain information best by listening to information. They then tend to repeat what was said to them in their mind during studying and test taking. It is beneficial for this type of learner to tape lectures so they can refer to them later and take study notes (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). The third type of learner is…
