Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: Exercising – It allows me to stay in shape, so that I may be able to have to have the energy to perform normal every day activities.

Social health: Going out with friends - It lets me interact with other individuals in a stress free environment, and lets me have a good time to blow off some steam from everyday life.

Intellectual health: Having down time alone - It allows me to keep a clear mind, and helps me stayed focus with things that are going on in my life. I am allowed to relax and reflect.

Environmental health: Cleaning my house - I am able to dust and clean, so that bacteria and allergens do not build up to get me sick.

Emotional health: Weight Watchers - I have always struggled with my weight, the meetings help me by giving me a challenge to change my lifestyle, accept the person who I am, and will always be. They also help by building my self –esteem back up.

Spiritual health: By going to church – It lets me able to feel better about myself, and my belief in my religion. I am able to sit in silence, think, pray and listen to mass, and every time I leave Sunday services I feel renewed.

In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health.

    If you are missing one of the six I think it affects the other areas of health. I see this with my son who has anxiety and panic attacks, when he has an attack then he is more likely to get sick like with a cold and then it takes him forever to feel his old self again, he says he is never really good. I know for me being spiritual healthy makes it easier for me to be emotionally healthy. I have to be happy and feel good about me with is hard but I am learning it is ok not to be perfect as long as you are happy with your body, mind and soul.
