Should Homosexuals Be Allowed to Legally Marry? Essay Example
Part I: Thesis
Should Homosexuals Be Allowed To Legally Marry? There seems to be a double edged sword, when it comes to free will. We are free to make choices for our lives, but not free in totality with our choices. If this place I call home is the Land of the free, then why can I not marry someone of the same sex? Land of the free, would interpret to me I am free to love anyone, no matter the gender. Should homosexuals be allowed to legally marry? It is my firm opinion, I should be able to marry whomever I deem fit to partner with, start a family or raise children with. Moreover, I should be able to live in peace with my choice. I believe people should be able to marry whomever they want. Considering, we all different in terms of culture and beliefs, most of us share similar beliefs, that we have the right to lifestyle and finally the right to equality. We have many rights; although, some of those rights are conditional. Our government regulates our rights, which limits our power as a people; for example “Gay Marriage”. Who are we to say someone else’s preference is wrong? No one culture should be considered superior. I believe the “gay community”, would appreciate being treated with respect regardless of sexual preference. After all it is just that; a preference. Our right to lifestyle should not be dictated by our government. If two people love each other, they should be able to marry and cohabitate without a judgmental eye. Yes. Everyone has their opinions, religious and moral beliefs; it is not a crime however, to differ in choice. Should I be discriminated against because I like scrambled eggs, and the majority preference of eggs are boiled? I am sure we all have ideas of how people should live, but do we have the right to question what makes someone else’s life happy? No one should be able to dictate your happiness or lifestyle. Moreover, this is my life and I should be able to live it to the fullest as I

Choices and decisions impact ones everyday life. Is a homosexuality marriage correct? Many will argue no, because it is biblically wrong. In my case I find it to be the choice of the person. Their marriage will not impact our lives in any way. Love comes in different forms such as lust, religion based, and sometimes unconditional love. It should not matter if it marriage is with a partner of the same sex or the opposite sex. If one finds love in the same sex what makes it so wrong to pursue. I believe that it is the right of a person if they want to marry a partner of the same sex. It is time that society becomes more accepting of homosexuals and their right to love just the same as you and I.…

Do you believe society should have the ability to determine if same sex partners should marry? Determining your soul partners should be a privilege for all, such as homosexuals, lesbians, gays, bisexuals etc. and not society. Homosexuals are not abnormal humans, so there is no reason to treat them any different, after all they are citizens who oblige to the same jurisdictions. In the brief article, 8 Is Not Hate: The Meaning of a proposition by Jennifer Roback Morse, Morse explains how marriage is a gender-based institution that attaches mothers and fathers to each other and to their children, but I disagree with her theory of marriage. I believe marriage is based on the love, trust, and the ability to provide for one another. If you were brought into this world as a homosexual then who are you to deny marriage to same sex partners, because although you deny marriage to same sex couples they’re not going to change their beliefs and values just because society does not accept them for who they are. Same sex couples should have the ability to choose their own spouses, without having to deal with ignorant bigots such as those who won’t accept others preferences, because of religious beliefs and values morals. If homosexuals have the same responsibility, consequences, and obligations as straight people then there is no reason to keep marriage away from same sex partner.…

Everybody should have the right to a legally recognized union with a partner of their choice. The debate over whether or not people in same sex relationship should be allowed to marry, or even enter into civil unions is no new fight. Legalizing gay marriage has brought a new trend which then providing the arguments on supporting gay marriage such as denying them is a violation of religious freedom and minority discrimination encourages people to have strong family values and constitute a good based family as well as giving up high-risk sexual lifestyles. Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with most evidence proving biological causation, and marriage benefits should be available to all couples.…

The question that is very much debated in America today is whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to get married here in the United States. There are many different opinions on the subject and my feelings are, if two people love each other and are able to commit to one another and remain in a relationship as husband and wife then it should not matter if it is two men, or two women that are making this type of commitment. There are some people that believe marriage of two people of the same sex is not moral and I have to disagree with this.…

After the legalizations in Massachusetts and, most recently, California, gay marriage has been a growing trend in the United States. In the 8 months since the legalization, more and more gay couples have been rushing to California to tie the knot. However, California and Massachusetts are not the first to make an effort to strengthen the bonds of homosexual couples some European countries including Denmark, Holland, some Scandinavian countries, and others have legalized same-sex marriage and have found the results positive. Gay marriage has been a contradictory issue since gay men and women began requesting marriage licenses. However, gays are denied their rights to marriage licenses, which is denying then their rights as American citizens. Gays should be treated equally to heterosexuals and granted their rights to marry the person they love, whether they are the same or opposite gender.…

The first reason why same sex marriage should be legal is because it is fair for all individuals to have the same rights in society. With the end of sodomy laws, a recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, conservatives have lost their last excuse to write off gay lives and love as unworthy of social accommodation. But whatever ones feel about the reasoning of the decision, its results is clear: gay Americans are no longer criminals. Even if they were, as murderers on death row that have the constitutional right to marriage, they should have too. Marriage is a very sacred arrangement. It is a lifetime commitment said to be only between man and woman. These two people should love or be in love with each other. Over the years homosexuality has come to the forefront. The question of should homosexuals be allowed to marry each other has had the world in an uproar. Homosexuals, indeed should be able to marry each other with the same benefits as man and woman. Homosexual marriages was made legal for the first time in 2001 by the Netherlands. Canada was the first country to marry Homosexual couples from all nations to formally commit. Extending recognition to non traditional relationships is not an attempt to undermine the family. But rather an effort to recognize today’s realities and to end decimation.…

I believe that we do not chose who we love our heart choses it for us, rather it is the glimpse in someone 's eye that warms your heart or the wrinkles in their smile, we love them for one reason and one reason only because they make us happy they define who we are in a way that no one else can not even ourselves. Rather we chose the opposite sex or the same sex love is one of a kind sometimes the same sex is able to give you all of the things you thought were missing. Love is capable of so many things and as long as someone is happy it should not matter the gender they chose. "It 's not gay rights it 's human rights".…

It really doesn’t matter who you are, straight or not love is love no matter what you can forbid people to marry just because they fall in love with a person of the same gender, that is just sick. What gives gay people fewer rights than straight people? They are humans, we all are humans, it’s not a sickness and it’s not a phase, its reality5. Most of the reasons people give about same-sex marriage is because it is against other people’s (or their own) religions. Well, that is not right or acceptable you cannot get mad at someone eating a doughnut just because you are on a diet, so why restrict someone for doing what they want. If you are a believer that two people of the same sex getting married will send them to hell, doesn’t that just make heaven better for you6.…
