Audience: Individuals interested in purchasing a vehicle
Purpose: To help potential car buyers be prepared; so, they may achieve what they want, and need in a vehicle.

Thesis: There is a method to the madness of buying a vehicle; you just need to have the right weapons for battle. A. Know what you want. B. Know how you’re going to pay for it. C. Be informed. D. Take your time. E. Above all, don’t be gullible
The Battle to Buy a Car After twenty-six years in the car business, I can honestly say, “I’ve seen and heard it all.” As with most things, the car business changes constantly. Always inventing new ways of sell a car. However, one thing hasn’t changed. It still needs salesmen to sell their product. Most salespeople are knowledgeable, and upfront. However, it is a business. Salesmen are there to make money. Simply as that. Some just do it a little more ethically then others. This leads us, to the fast talking salesmen. You know the type: tall, dark, handsome, and knows it all. The minute you walk on the lot, he’s on you like white on rice. Equipped with sunglasses, and a cigarette in his mouth, he’s ready to sell you everything but the kitchen sink. With that said, let me start by saying, “get armed”. Buying a car today is a battle. Being prepared will be one of your greatest weapons. Therefore, here are five “Do’s and Don’ts I’ve come up with. First, before you step onto the car lot, know what you want. What are your needs? Know what you like and do not like about your present vehicle. Knowing this ahead of time will help you buy what you want and not what the fast talking salesperson wants you to buy. I’ve seen it. For example, a customer comes to purchase a four-wheel drive truck. He’s living in Buffalo New York and gets 20 feet of snow at a time. However, instead he leaves with a two-wheel drive truck.     The last product I purchased was my new car. It is a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The customer for this product would be a young adult to middle aged adult. The customer for this car wants a car that is smaller in size but one that also has plenty of room for at least 4 people. The closest brand to this car would be, in my opinion, the Pontiac G8. When I purchased my Malibu I went to test drive the G8. It was a 2011 and had only a few miles on it. It was traded in for a different car because the car was too small for the current owner. I loved the G8 and it was everything I wanted. It was only a couple thousand dollars less than the Malibu and the Malibu was brand new with only 20 miles on it. My husband is the one who really liked the Malibu and talked me into test driving it. Needless to say that is the car I choose. I chose this particular car because with the FREE extended warranty and the rebates on this car it turned out to be a cheaper car than the G8 but also a better car. Honestly the marketing on this car did not influence my opinion at all. I never thought about this specific car until at the dealership that day. When I purchased this car Chevrolet has awesome rebates and interest on their new vehicles.     Laundry is a daily chore that must be done. I do not know of anyone who enjoys the daily ritual of cleaning clothes but with a few easy steps it does not have to be such a hassle. There is also some pre-planning steps you can take that will save you time and frustration. The first and most important step in the laundry process is to be prepared. Make sure you have all the supplies you need to get the job done before you get started. You will need laundry detergent. You can buy powder or liquid detergent, but I prefer liquid because powder detergent does not always dissolve completely and you can substitute liquid detergent for stain remover in a pinch. You will also need a stain remover, such as Shout, and bleach. Bleach now comes in a color safe version so you can use it on all your clothes, not just whites. I also recommend using a liquid fabric softener in the wash but you will need sheets for the dryer as well. Most washing machines have a place to put it or you can buy a ball that goes in the washer and releases the fabric softener at the right time. Also, you will need a basket for your dirty clothes to go in.. I keep several so I can sort them as they get dirty instead of digging through one basket to get a load. Once you have all your supplies you are ready to start. Depending on what you are washing you will need to adjust the setting on your washer. For example towels can be washed on heavy duty but finer linens such as silks need a more delicate setting. Start the washer and add the detergent and any bleach as the water begins to fill. If you do not already have your laundry separated in baskets, you will need to go through everything to get a load ready. Like colors and fabrics…

    I am usually an honest person, who doesn’t like any person or persons being dishonest with me. I feel that, perhaps I made each salesman a little bit better in their approach and techniques, while servicing me. I had asked more question to them about their own salesman abilities and found out I was just dealing with “rookies”.
