No Homework Policy Essay Example
Just imagine it’s a Sunday night. You’re all comfortable and tired, and just trying to relax because you had a great weekend. You’re just about to fall asleep, but then you realize, you have homework. Now you either get up and do all your homework, or you just leave it and take the zero. I know everybody in this room can relate to this situation because it’s happened to every single one of us before. That is why I’m talking to you about having a no homework policy in schools. I’ll bet any amount of money that when any of you even hear the word homework, you don’t get happy or excited about it. So, if nobody like it, then why do we still have it? There are many more cons about homework then there are pros. The few pros are that some people believe that homework builds character and teaches good study habits. (Kohn 1) These “pros” are just myths that have been passed down, it has never really been proven that homework really does build character and teaches good study habits. What has been proven is all of the cons to homework. There have been many studies about the cons of homework, and the results are all against homework. The studies show that kids are exhausted after school and need a break, homework takes away from outside activities, homework causes conflicts between parents, and homework really hurts kids that are struggling learners, English-language learners, young students, kids with few resources, students in many of today’s families, and kids that have to do chores or take care of their siblings. (Family Homework Answers 1-3) I personally believe that homework has no point. I mean, as students, we have to sit in school and learn for 6 hours a day 5 days a week. Isn’t that enough? Why should our teachers give us more work to do on the few days we have off of school and at night after we attended school. I just don’t think teachers get it. They always say, “It’s only going to take you 20-25 minutes.”, but what they don’t understand is that every

What is the point of homework? They’re just death tests from hell to see how long you can keep on. It has absolute no use to us at all; we will not be able to remember it in a few years time, are we? Do we get in trouble if we don't do it? When I mean trouble, I mean serious trouble, like the mental and physical abuse the Americans use on those prisoners to make their lives a living death. If we don't get it, why would you do it? It’s not going to kill you. Does it count towards your grade? If it is not going to count towards your grades, then why bother causing a chaos in your life by doing it? Only those people who have no social life at all scramble themselves into all sorts of misery by doing them. For a point of truth, which genius in the world actually concentrated on their homework? For example, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, they saw their…

Homework...Why do we have homework? I know that it is the most essential part in kids life for education, at least that is what teachers would say. But, what is the reason for doing homework after school when you have been working hard all day. Therefore, I feel that homework isn't necessary because all it does is that it cause stress. Solving problem after problem, reading chapter after chapter, and studying for tests, quizzes makes the students frustrated and that leads them to dropping out school as well.…

Have you ever thought that homework could be beneficial? Homework can benefit students by helping the educators with their academics. Academics involving critical thinking and preparing for test or quizzes. Furthermore, studies have been shown that students at the elementary level that are assigned homework do much better with their English skills and vocabulary. Some students don’t know what to do when the teacher assign their homework. They don’t know what to do because when the teachers assign them homework the night before to do, they spent all night doing it. Then the next day at school they are way too tired to process any work and lesson the teachers are teaching. They would just fall asleep and pay less attention. That causes the student to not know what to do and they just write down random answers. Then when they turn it in the teachers mark it wrong and give them a bad grade. Eventually with all these bad grades in their file it will bring their grades down a lot. This would just give more stress to the students and drain their energy. An average person should be getting about seven to eight hours of sleep a night not two or three…

Kids shouldn't have homework if it’s hurting them reason one is because it affects kids health and reason two is because it takes time away from other activities. Does homework really help students improve their learning skills like teachers say it does? Well according to my research 75% of students say homework does nothing but give stress & anxiety. Me personally I agree with the statistics homework does give stress, I just don’t approve homework. It just isn’t fair for us students, because we go to school eight hours a day to get our education and do work, why would we want to do more work after hours when we get home.…

The first reason we shouldn’t have homework is it’s too much work. In school we sit in a classroom doing work for almost 7 hours (besides lunch). So why do we have to do homework after working for half our day and go to the place where we can get away from school. Also we have a lot of homework on days we need to study for a quiz, and an exam seems more important than homework. This is the only time we have to hangout with our friends on the weekends but sometimes can’t because we have homework. Lastly homework is terrible if no one can help you. If no one can help you then you’re doing work that you don’t understand, and if you don’t understand it what’s the point having the work you can’t do.…

Some educators and schools worldwide have banned homework. I strongly believe that schools give too much homework and should be banned because less homework gives teachers more time to plan lessons, children need more time for other activities, and homework often has bad effect on students. First of all, less homework gives teachers more time to plan lessons. According to the Achieve 3000 article, “No More Homework?,” in paragraph 2, the author says, “If teachers did not have to mark homework, they would have more time to plan lessons and monitor students’ daily progress.” If teachers do not give homework, they would have more time on their hands to work on other things.…

In a nut shell, students should not have homework. It is not the fact that students are overworking.
