KARERA NG LATA (Can Race)

Players: Eight players
Playing Area: Outdoor/gymnasium
Skills: Balancing, leg and arm strength

A. Preparation
This game is similar to kadang-kadang or coconut stilts race but instead of using coconut stilts, empty can are used. A can stilt made in almost the same way as a coconut stilt. A hole is made at the bottom of an empty can with a strong string inserted into the hole, with one of its ends tied into a large knot inside the empty can. The other end is kept loose for the player to use while walking on the stilts. Form two teams. Draw a line on the ground to mark the starting point. Have the two teams line up behind this. Five feet away from the starting line, mark the turnaround point. The first player at the head of the line is ready to walk on the can stilts with its strings inserted between the big toe and second toe of each foot.
B. How to Play
At a signal from the teacher, the first players of each team start walking from the starting line toward the turnaround point and back while wearing the can stilts. Upon returning to the starting line, Player no. 1 quickly passes on the stilts to the next player. The game proceeds in this manner until all members of the team have taken their turn. The first team whose members all finish their turn is the winner.

KARERA SA SAKO (SACK RACE)

Players: Two teams or more
Playing Area: Outdoors/gymnasium
Equipment: Two sacks
Skills Speed in jumping, leg and arm strength
Value: Teamwork

A. Preparation
Each team must have a sack. Draw on the ground the starting line and the turn around point for each team, all parallel to one another. Let all members of each team line up in single file before the starting line. Every first player of the teams must hold the sack.

B. How to Play
Upon signal from the teacher or leader, the first player gets inside the sack. He holds the mouth of the sack tightly and jumps from the starting line to the turnaround
