The technology of GE is the practice of altering or disrupting the genetic blueprints of living organisms. Life science corporations proclaim that their new products will make agriculture sustainable, eliminate world hunger, cure disease and vastly improve public health. However, these gene engineers have made it clear through their business practices and political lobbying, that they intend to use GE to monopolize the global market for seeds, food, fiber and medical products. This article will help my research by discussing the toxins and poisons created through genetic engineering. It will also help talk about how genetic engineering is a threat to all human health, how it’s damaging to the food quality for nutrition, and the environment.

In this scholarly article, it talks about what year genetically modified plants have had genes from bacteria and viruses forced into their DNA. It also discusses what the six major genetically modified crops are. How Europe and Asia reported deaths of animals that were eating genetically modified corn and by eating the corn it resulted into death. This article will help create my final research essay by providing information on key points of GMOs and also by giving background information that was given in the article and how in different countries seem to have the same outcome on animals that were given GMO food. It will also improve my argument on why GMO should be banned in America.

Monsanto announced it is giving up on most of Europe since people do not want GMO food in their grocery stores, while America is struggling to have GMOs labeled on all or any foods. It also discuss how GMO food has had herbicides sprayed on them during planting and growing stages and constitute a major health hazard. Aside from several countries in America that have banned the growing of GMO crops, the big push is for labeling of GMO food in stores. The “kinder, gentler” approach is based on two assumptions. One, American consumers need soft activism, they won’t demand legal rejection of GMO food. Monsanto has made such a powerful inroad on food-cropping farming, it’s too late to take it back. It’s too late to declare all the GMO crops illegal. This article will help state that what Monsanto is doing to make sure consumer are still buying GMO foods in America is outrageous and scary.

This research shows date on how by ingesting genetically modified organism it can result in harmful diseases or even death. This will benefit my research paper by sourcing this article to prove that genetically modified organism can result in startling health effects that were in both female and male rats. It will also show how it has affected both female and male rates differently in the body.

This will assist my research paper by giving the reader knowledge on organic food, labeling of non-GMO food. Whole Foods’ Margaret Wittenberg tells host Steve Curwood that the grocery chain wants to give customers full information to make their own decisions on food. This interview talks about how no grocery store can guarantee GMOs are not in their stores on non-organic products. If concerned look for organic, and also look for non-GMO project verified products. Also, how it is important for consumers to have access to wholesome quality food and food that does not contain artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. By reading this interview, it gives me an advantage by giving a point of view from a considerable large company that is trying to improve the quality of food and to have consumers aware of that is going into their bodies.

State-of-the-science on the health risks of GM foods discusses the FDA’s “non- regulations” of GM foods and how the FDA is trying to cover up the true health risks of genetics modified foods. It also states the research that was done that shows that GM has toxic relations in the digestive tract, cause liver damage. Animals that are fed with GM food had a higher death rate and organ damage. And an allover manipulation of public opinions and how the FDA is turning their heads when it comes to the safety of the food we are giving out. This PDF file will help my research by sources research studied that were done and showing proof that GM foods are harmful and toxic to humans and animals. How Americans don’t want to see what is going into their foods they are consuming and how money will play a factor into labeling or banning GMO foods all together.

    Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)/Genetically Engineered (GE) foods are the result of laboratory processes which artificially insert genes into the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of food crops or animals. There are many arguments both in favor of and against mandatory labeling of GMO/GE foods. Whether or not to require labeling of GMOs or GE foods also involves the debate over the risks and benefits of food crops produced using biotechnology. However, the overarching argument is consumers have a right to know what is in their food, especially concerning products that can cause allergic reactions. According to the Campaign for Healthier Eating in America, Genetically Modified (GM) foods are linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sick, sterile, and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals (http://www.responsibletechnology.org). Because there is no scientific evidence that GMO/GE foods do or do not cause health issues in humans (because there have been no long-term studies), consumers may or may not be being harmed by GMOs. However, the safety of GMOs has been questioned by other countries. In fact, they are banned by food manufacturers in Europe and other countries, but, present in the majority of meats, produce, diary and processed foods in the United States (US). Many consumers in the US have no knowledge that they are consuming GMOs. If they did, it is now known if, similar to Europe, many would prefer to not consume GMO/GE foods.
