A Summers Life
1. The one aspect of Soto's life that was most interesting is when he had the three chicks. Soto had three chicks in his back yard that he was raising. He seemed fascinated by the way they just pecked around his back yard, blinked rapidly, and slept standing up. The chicks used to crawl on his shoes. He thought it was cute until one of the chicks defecated on his shoe. That angered Gary and he kicked sand in the chicks eyes. He immediately felt bad after what he had just done. This is the part of the story that made me laugh. It made me laugh because as the chapter went on, Gary became very protective of the chicks. When he kicked sand in the chicks eyes, it was very alarming. He seemed not to be a violent person.
2. The haircut chapter was the closest to my childhood: “Wow I did that too”. When Reinhardt cut Soto's hair, I cut my sister's hair in the same fashion. Soto's hair was different then my sister's. Soto has short black hair; my sister had shoulder length, curly, blond hair. When my mother found out about my sister's haircut, my mother's reaction was far different then Soto's. My mother, a hard nosed woman from Kentucky, ordered my to the tree to get a switch to receive my punishment. My Mother was not as lenient. Soto’s Mother just asked what happened and told him to metr here in the backyard later in the day. My mother had to take my sister to the salon to fix her hair. Soto's mother took him to the back y ard to fix it herself.
3. The moral of the Pie Chapter is not to steal. Soto knew right from wrong when he walked into the German market with his Frisbee. He knew he was going to put the pie under his Frisbee. He was fighting the urge not to steal the pie. He could taste the pie in his mouth while he was standing there. When he did, he had no intention of sharing the pie with anybody. His buddy Johnny asked Soto for a piece and he told him to get away. He ate the whole pie by himself. After he ate the pie and the day ended, he felt guilty. The
