Throughout all of the destinations that their journeys took them on in the Americas, they heard captivating stories about this legendary city of gold told from the Indians. Little did they know that these were really exaggerated accounts of El Dorado handed down by the sun-worshipping Chibeha Indians. Some of the Indians spoke of a holy lake full of gold. Others told of meeting a golden chieftain in Omagua. As the tales spread, El Dorado became a city of gold, so much so that it was even shown on maps, though the location varied greatly. In the 1530's, the race was on between the Germans and the Spaniards who each sent several expeditions out into the Andes Mountains to seek the city of gold. The mountains proved to be nearly impossible to pass and many had to turn back when they ran out of…

After reading “Yellow Woman” a sense of mystery is imposed on the readers. The story itself is very short and dreamlike. It is as if there is no beginning to the story. The narrator wakes up on the sand of a river bank next to a man she does not know. The man known as Silva acts very strangely towards her throughout the entire story. He is always laughing and smiling while at the same time forcing the narrator to do what he wants. By the same token, the narrator never puts up any sort of a fight to leave. The Narrator in the story knowingly follows Silva’s every word even knowing deep down she knows that she probably shouldn’t. She uses her time with him as an escape from her own living situation because it is exciting and new. The song Yellow represents relationships as a good experience, the message of the song Yellow is that when you love someone you would do anything for them, this includes dying for them; this is made clear in the verse “Do you know for you I bleed myself dry”. Yellow says that relationships can be happy and so strong that their life is nowhere near as important as their love for one another. When the writers refer to the colour yellow, they could be symbolising the brilliance and happiness of the relationship between the two people, this is obvious because yellow represents bright, joyful and happy things like the sun, sunflowers and star; in the song one bright and joyful verse says, “look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do, they were all yellow”.…
