Young People In Recovery Case Study
Cape Elizabeth- Matthew was known for being confident, outgoing, and energetic. Stress mounted as he entered his teenage years. When he started high school he didn’t know how to respond to the competitive environment. He then became quiet and reserved. He was only fourteen years old when he started doing drugs because he was stressed and felt alone. When he couldn’t handle the pain anymore he smoked marijuana. After that it escalated to trying other things and it became an addiction. He started doing poorly in school. Later on, he spoke to one of his teachers and decided to come clean. He now leads the Biddeford chapter of the group “Young People In Recovery.” He talks to middle and high school students in a way he wished to him.
