Writing An Argumentative Paper In College
I think argumentative papers in college, usually do not address religious issues for a couple of reasons. One reason being that other people with different beliefs reading a paper that involves religious issues might offend them. Thus, it might start a controversy, which colleges do not want. Usually, colleges want religion to be a neutral subject where people believe what they want to believe, and they are not judge upon it. Another reason is that religious issues do not provide a good argument, being that it is about religion, because there are not actual proven evidences and facts to back up the argument besides the claims in religious texts.
Now, which brings us to why we should not rely on religious texts for sources. Religious texts

There are many different ways to write an argumentative paper. An argumentative paper is a paper designed to push a reader toward an idea or feeling an author evokes (Skywire 332). An author will try to make ludicrous ideas seem more appealing to the reader. "A Modest Proposal" is a great example of this technique.…

What is the best solution to a more successful future? This question is in the minds of many students and parents. In my opinion, I think that attending a public school is a better solution than attending a private school. This choice is affected greatly by the overall performance, capabilities of the student and the financial budget of the parent. There are advantages and disadvantages of both private and public schools.…

Lund 1 Aaron Lund Professor Dorn English 102 15 November XXXX Preserving Yellowstone’s Winter Wilderness Although a few recreational snowmobilers destroy fragile ecosystems and harass animals as they ride through the wilderness, most love and respect this country’s natural heritage. That’s why they brave the cold to explore what is left of wild America— including Yellowstone National Park. Unfortunately, however, even respectful snowmobilers are unwittingly damaging what they love. Because snowmobiles create both air and noise pollution and because their use in the park strains the already lean budget of the park service, recreational snowmobiles should be banned from Yellowstone National Park. In 2002, the Bush administration, under pressure from the snowmobile industry, proposed to reverse the National Park Service’s 2000 plan that would have phased out recreational snowmobile use in Yellowstone. In addition to reversing the earlier plan, the new policy would increase the number of snowmobiles allowed into the park per day. This policy is a step in the wrong direction. It may be hard to imagine that 1,100 snowmobiles a day (the proposed limit) could cause an air pollution problem in a park half the size of Connecticut, but in fact they can. The air pollution at park entrances has already become so bad in winter, according to environmental reporter Julie Cart, that fresh air has to be…

As stated by Margaret Van de Pitte, “Hunting and gun ownership continue to be associated with liberty, a very fundamental right indeed” (263). The exercise of deliberate stalking, observing, and killing of animals is a cherished pastime that positively impacts our world today. The base of traditional and cultural practices, hunting wild animals should remain legal due to the environmental and economic benefits.…

Throughout this 8-week semester, I have been learning how to write argumentative essays using the provided articles as well as the ones I find on my own to help support my arguments. I like how the first three papers are designed as a step by step teaching tool. For example, paper one teaches me how to read and summarize the articles and to give a short response to each article. This is very helpful, because without having a deep understanding of the issue being discussed, I would not be able to generate my opinion and present it to the audience. The second paper requires more than reading and summarizing. This paper actually introduces me to argumentative research essays by asking me to find one additional resource to support my arguments. The third paper, which is also the biggest research paper, requires me to have a well-broad understanding of the complexity of the topic and to be able to utilize three to four resources to effectively support my position. Thus, instead of throwing all the class material to me all at once, this class has taught me how to develop an argumentative paper step by step and provided me with a much stronger knowledge base about argumentative essays. However, writing argumentative essay is a challenging process. It requires a lot of thinking, researching and organization in order to create a well written paper.…

There is always that one question that lurks around the hallway in high school. You may keep ignoring it not taking it seriously until your senior year when you have to decide, Is College worth it? Many people don’t realize that college isn’t for everyone and pester their kids about how college is a life vest and would help tremendously to brighten up ones future but life vests can have a hole in it and in the end you drown no matter how much you try to save yourself. That one flaw sinks the person to the ocean floor with no way to get up. College is like that for some people, no matter how hard you try in the end some students (or former students) sink giving all your best.…

On the first day of class, we were asked if we knew where the books of the Bible came from. I had a general idea on how to answer my professor, but felt uncertain about my response. It was at that moment that I was inspired to research the history of scriptures. I suddenly had a desire to discover verifiable facts so that I would be better prepared to give a logical and convincing defense for the book that I so cherished.…

The use of animals in medical and scientific research has long been a controversial subject among the public. Some groups and organizations claim that animal testing is cruel and provides little insight to the effects of treatments on humans. However, researchers claim that animal testing can provide critical data that leads to the improvement of disease treatment in humans. Animal testing should be allowed because any means used to advance treatment of human diseases should be available to medical researchers.…

When I seem to have lost myself or don’t know what to do, I run. Running takes all my fears and stress away. It brings an upbeat and captivated sensibility. I love the awareness of the different seasons when I run. I see new things and I’m able to explore. Going into the distance and not looking back. Feeling little streams roll down my face. My lungs inflating in and out, as I try to catch my breathe. My heart racing, pounding against my chest keeps me going. I believe running allows me to be adapted and secure. My legs, solid and no husk existing, it feels great. I can remember a point in my life when I hated running. Only the negatives ran through the brain, and the positives non existent. The prices of college tuition have increased yearly, and not much of an effort is put forth to try to lower the costs. For example, colleges in the state of Pennsylvania have a high tuition. Moravian College’s tuition is about $32,931, and after receipt of grants and scholarships for one year it will be $22,900. East Stroudsburg University’s tuition is about $6,240, and after receipt of grants and scholarships for one year it will be $12,500. I can barely afford Community College, and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be able to afford any of these colleges or universities either. In this essay, I will explain through facts and opinions, why the cost of college tuition should be lowered.…

An argumentative essay is an essay in which you agree or disagree with an issue, using reasons to support your opinion. Your goal is to convince your reader that your opinion is right. Argumentation is a popular kind of essay question because it forces students to think on their own: They have to take a stand on an issue, support their stand with solid reasons, and support their reasons with solid evidence. In a general writing test such as the TOEFL exam, you might encounter questions such as these:…
