Argumentative Essay: Is College Worth It?
College is something that everyone will think about at some point in their life. For instance, when graduating high school their is a big decision to be made. One of the most asked question is college still worth it? Students who argue that college is not worth it usually say something about student debt. I have found that college can benefit you in multiple ways like better career opportunities, better paying jobs, and an investment in your future. Student debt is something that almost any student worry about when going to college. The average student debt is 30,000 per borrower found by the Institute for College Access and Success(The). Yes, college can be expensive but there are ways students can save money without it coming out their pocket. You can apply for FASA, scholarships, or even grants. Scholarships and grants are often referred to as “gift aid,” because they don’t have to be repaid. Even though many people go into college not knowing the career they wish to pursue in life. There are benefits found with career opportunities. Earning a college degree can be the first step in bettering your career. Lets look at San Francisco President John Willams essay. He quotes “education arms people with the skills to find success, from an economist’s perspective, I see the irrefutable data that investing in education is crucial to economic success (why).” The academic and career skill credentials a college education provides often will help you to stand out among job applicants and peers that might be up for the same promotion.
