First, most African Americans in the Deep South didn't receive the luxury that they deserved. Examples consisted of not being able to eat at every restaurant, cafe, not being able to get a room in a hotel, and not being able to get off a bus for bathroom breaks. The author states, "I'd like to go to the rest room." I smiled and moved to step down. He tightened his grip on the door facings and shouldered in close to block me. "Does your ticket say for you to get off here?" he asked. "No sir, but the others—" "Then you will get your ass back in your seat and don't you move till we get to Hattiesburg," he commanded. "You mean I can't go…

Most, if not every establishment in the south, had become completely segregated, and to be born an African American during those times was considered a sin punishable by man-made laws that swore to protect and serve the American people. African Americans were considered second rate citizens, who were bullied and made examples of on a daily basis; none of which, has changed much given our present conditions. Now you probably might be thinking; what does this have to do with African Americans and the back of the bus theory? Subconsciously, African Americans have reverted back to and are taking their rightful place near the rear of the…

Life was especially difficult in the South for African Americans. After Brown v Board in 1954, only 49 schools in the South desegregated. Restrooms, restaurants, buses, etc. were still segregated. Several African Americans could not vote. White people did exactly what they have always done and so did colored people. It was said because it worked out best. Simple things, such as both races sitting together in front of the bus, threatened people. This Southern way of life was filled with humiliation, embarrassment and discrimination.…

The argument that I picked was Argument A. I chose this argument because the compass and straightedge were used before computers. rafting with these tools is the foundation of all geometric constructions. One instrument lets you draw circles and the other lets you draw straight line segments. When constructing figures in geometry, you must understand how to use these instruments. Although technology is good, it is critical to understand the basis of any new technology. With the use of the compass and straightedge, you have basic knowledge of geometric construction in case a drawing program has glitches or computer fails. I feel that when you use a computer drawing program that the software is doing the constructing and you are not. Therefore, when constructing geometric figures, it is necessary to understand and use the compass and straightedge. The three reasons why the method of using a compass and straightedge is better are because the first proportional compasses were invented in the sixteenth century. Since the Greeks first began constructing geometric figures using the compass and straightedge, drafting has evolved with technology. Before technology can be implemented effectively, an understanding of the basic tools is needed. The compass and straightedge are the basic tools used for constructing geometric figures and students should learn how to use them.…
