Wonders Character Analysis
In R.J. Palacio’s novel Wonder, the reader unearths major details of August’s school life from excerpts by his friends Jack and Summer. For example, Summer, Auggie’s close friend, says: “I’m friends with him because I want to be.” (Palacio 119). Demonstrating true friendship, Summer proves that in darkness you may find light. Auggie finds a true companion in Summer, even though he remains in an environment of unfriendly and hostile children. This shows that, unlike the monster August’s classmates depict him as, he still stays positive and gains a friend. Jack Will, one of his acquaintances, describes August's school behavior as, “he’s pretty funny [...] [and] totally make[s] me crack up.” (142). August looks past the negativity revolving

What this really shows is the true identifier for Canadians, the ability to be at the butt end of our own joke. During this week of reading Wonder By Palacio a quote that popped up to me was “Does August see how other people see him, or has he gotten so good at pretending not to see that it doesn’t bother him? Or does it bother him? When he looks in the mirror, does he see the Auggie Mom and Dad sees or does he see the Auggie everyone else see? Or is there another August he sees, someone in his dreams behind the misshapen head and face?” because It made me think about how August feels about how other people look at him and how his parents look at him. Also it made me wonder how Mom and Dad look at August is different by the way other people look at him and how he looks at himself. This made me feel bad for August having to deal with what other people…

In the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio, August Pullman, the main character, tells the story from his point of view, while having the reader empathize with him. For example, the reader feels bad for August because he believes that he has a shameful face: “I would wish that I had a normal face,” (Palacio 3). This reveals that August tires from the mistreatment from the people making fun of his face and treating him differently. Henceforth, August needs to grow thicker skin and learn to ignore and adapt if he wants to live in society as a normal person. On Halloween, August “[walks] with his head up, [and] [...] wants to be seen.” (Palacio 76). This situation brings the joy and the ability to act normal that he yearns for after an eternity…

While reading Wonder I found it hard to understand why Auggie’s parents would send him to a public school ,where he would face such ridicule. What did his older sister Via think? The book Wonder was written by R.J Palacio. He was hoping in teaching people especially children not to judge people on the way you look. You should base them on their personality. Mr.Palacio ,I am writing to you to see if you could answer some of my suspicions about Wonder. Did you think the school was a good setting and surrounding for Auggie? The book Wonder changed me because it made me think of words toward other people. This is because I realized how much words can really affect someone. Some quotes in the story that changed me I will list now. ”One of the things I miss most about Via’s friendship is her family. ”Another quote is "Say goodbye to Daisy kids, tears streaming down her face. ”The last quote is “I can’t believe you’ve grownup this year Auggie.”…
