Wine to Water

Not having a purpose in life or not knowing what to do or where to go might just be the worst feeling to have. I believe everyone has a purpose, something we were meant to do or be good at. Finding that one thing is just the hard part. The book Wine to Water shows us a story about a guy that really doesn’t get why he’s here. What his purpose really is until he finds out the worlds crisis for water and how he can actually help these people. Being in college, Just graduating from High school I think I can really identify with how he was feeling. Where will I really be in 10 years. Thats the million dollar question everyone would like to have answered. Like Doc Hendley says in the book, “What is the definition of life? Is it eating, sleeping, breathing? Or is it something much greater?” I think everyone has their own definition. Depending on what you want to do or what your morals are has to do with how you see life and its meaning. That’s what the book is mainly about, learning the real definition of life. Doc is trying to find somewhere were he is wanted. All his life he never really finished anything or was determined to do anything until he started Wine to Water and saw how just one person can make a tremendous impact on others life. Since little I was always asked what do I wanna be when I grow up? It’s funny because my parents always told me to just be happy. Whatever I do, whoever i’m with be a happy person. John Lennon gave a great example, As quoted he said “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” Happiness within is key. If you’re not happy with yourself and what you do then life is just irrelevant. I can honestly say I can identify with Doc and how he dealt with “Failure”. They say you fall two times

All of us have a lot of questions, and we don’t have the answers to those questions; that can really discourage us. I was in college and that’s how I felt. Consequently, that led to many dismal thoughts, because I assumed that I didn’t serve a purpose. One event in particular gave me an idea, that I could begin the cycle of purpose for myself. Once, I was nonchalantly strolling to my car from class, when I spotted an anomaly in the distance. My car had been burglarized, which made me a mix of complicated emotions. I sprinted to my car, hopefully nothing had been taken. Although, the doors were wide open, only one thing was stolen; my car radio. “Why me,” I screamed at the…

Can happiness be found in everyday life? In the articles, “The Pursuit of Happiness,” “Just for the Joy of it,” and “Get out of the Groove,” each author suggests different ways that people may acquire happiness. People are constantly trying to find happiness in some aspect of their lives. For some, it may be easy for them to feel happy, but for others, it may be a continuous difficulty. Not everyone will experience happiness equally, because no person is identical to another. Everyone is different, meaning that it is reasonable to suggest that they encounter different methods for acquiring happiness. Some ways that the authors agree or disagree that happiness may be pursued include how much people are willing to do to be happy, discovering natural tendencies in humans, and focusing on the simple things in life.…

It’s often a misconception that in order to find happiness you must have the approval of others or loads of money or a beautiful face. In a way all of those thing can add to one's overall happiness but, most of the time in the midsts of trying to achieve these things we wind up making ourselves miserable. One would be that happiness is pleasure and all things we do are for the sake of achieving the feelings that come along with pleasure. Two is that there really is necessary and unnecessary desires that we will encounter in our lives as humans, and is our mission to determine which is which. Happiness isn’t something that you can’t find while being isolated, most likely your happiness will be found in society where other people can help you discover what your happiness is. What is happiness? Marketing and media have brainwashed people’s brain into believing that happiness means to own possessions such as cars, big houses, or brand new devices among others. Without motive or purpose to live human beings tend to not have any passion to live, help others, teach others or even become better for others. Anything worth having will not come easy which is a huge lesson I was taught here in the performing arts academy. Sometimes in order to get what you really want you have to make sacrifices and you may not enjoy life for some time because your wants and needs may trump other priorities in your life. Shakespeare once said “Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope with what I MOST enjoy contented least. Which is why your purpose and why is something important to consider and think about before leaving this building today class of 2016.…
