Drones should be Banned from Military Warfare
Since the first appearance of military drones in 1982, drones have been widely used as a weapon of war as it does not risk the pilot’s life in a war besides being a deadly and efficient in strikes. Unfortunately, drones are not only deadly towards the terrorists but also towards innocent civilians as drones attack had kill so many innocent civilians. In Yemen alone, around 70% of casualties from six drones attack launched by the United States in 2009, 2012 and 2013 were innocent civilians such as children, pregnant mothers and old folks (Whitlock 2013). According to Amnesty International (Moskowitz 2013), the government does not take any responsibility toward the death of innocent civilians that was accidently killed during the drone strikes against the terrorist. However, they believe that the strikes were a success as it managed to wipe out the terrorists that were located in the targeted area. This act is selfish as it is taking its toll on innocent mothers and children that has no idea about what is happening around them. Next, it is an obvious violation of international human law when the human rights of the innocent people that was killed in drone strikes are being ignore (Akulov 2012). According to the law that we abide with, trials will be made upon execution of innocent people. However, there were no trials made toward the incumbent administration upon the death of innocent people caused by drone attacks. Without any relevant action taken, it is considered as a war crime as the rights of drone attacks victims are not being justify but only to be ignored and disrespected. Other than that, drone attacks are against the international law when it is launched by a non-belligerent country towards other countries (Akulov 2012). These three major reasons clearly show the solid reason form the government to reconsider the usage of drones in military warfare. The administration ought to put a stop on the usage of the drones as worst consequences may be faced in the future because the world now is not as safe as it used to be and may will misuse the drones and its deadly feature. They might use it as a threat to other country who does not own drones. As we are living in the world where technologies are rapidly improving and innovating, so will the drones. It will become more dangerous and lethal in the future. Hence, it will provoke war amongst the big countries and make the world a less safe place. So, I suggest the military department to stay with the current weapon without drones but to come up with better and wiser strategy to overcome threats from other
