Why Obtain A Degree
Motivation: Most of my motivation comes from not wanting to be stuck at a crummy job that makes me miserable for the rest of my life. I don't want my future family to struggle either. Along with all of that, I don't just want a job; I want a career. My mom has struggled to make ends meet all of my life, and I want to avoid that. Eventually, I want to be able to tell my mom that she doesn't need to work because I can take care of her.

Purpose: My purpose for wanting to get a degree is so I can make a real difference. Even if it's something as simple as helping people through a situation that they wouldn't be able to get through themselves. I want to be able to live life, not just exist. And I know getting a degree to have a rewarding

Neither one of my parents even got a high school diploma. I feel like dedicating the next four years to pursuing a degree demonstrates some persistence. And not only am I going after a degree, I am trying to better myself. I am hoping to be a good example to my much younger siblings by proving it's possible to go to college, even if it seems like it's not.

Discipline: School is my biggest priority right now. I plan to treat it like a full time job, putting in as many hours into studying and staying focused as I can. The fact that I want to put so much into school may be inconvenient to some people in my life, but I will not allow that to influence me in a bad way. I tell myself that I will be able be successful with my dreams, and prove the people that doubted me wrong when I'm done.

Focus: To stay fully focused, I just need to keep reminding myself that I will have a bachelor's degree. And not only that, but I will be able to do something that will make me happy and I will reach a goal that I previously thought would never be possible. Honestly, my family is my biggest challenge right now. Sometimes showing them that putting all of this work into getting a degree is going to be worth it is a bit overwhelming. I feel like the best way to push through it is to tell myself that I will be able to have a stable career. Not only that, but I will be able

The most important goal for my future is to obtain a satisfying career. Growing up I saw how unhappy my mother was working at a job that she hated just to make enough to provide for our family. I further understood how important a satisfying career was to me when I started working the graveyard shift as a dockworker during community college. I strongly disliked almost everything about the job including the exposure to extreme temperatures, the job’s filthy nature, the long and irregular hours, and most of all because it was unfulfilling. I was miserable with my occupation but I was dependent on it because it was lucrative and provided me with a way to support myself through college. I worked fulltime at this job for two years while also being a fulltime student until I transferred to SIU. The dread that I felt toward my job made me work harder academically because I knew that someday my hard work would amount to a career that I thoroughly…

It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…

Going to college has always been a goal to myself. Personally, it means more than expecting to get a good job with a high earning potential. It means the opportunity to develop myself as a person and become a valued member of society. It means, that as the oldest brother and first generation in my family with the possibility to attend college, setting an example for my younger siblings about how to shape your own path and break that mindset of “do what you have to do” and replacing it with one which says, “do something that makes you happy.”…

My main reason for going back to school is for better career choices and the chance for something better. Which is currently very limited in this area. Mainly some companies that don't pay very much. That's why I hope this degree will open on a new career or something much better. Maybe even one day own my own business or some kind independent business agent. I guess the idea being able work by myself is very desirable. Not having to deal with the daily rat race, doing the same old daily grind and having the ability to achieve something much better for myself…

My motivation for achieving this goal is based on the fact that this is my second college and failing is not an option. My intrinsic motivation for graduating would have to be my love for helping others in need. In order for me to achieve my career goal I would first have to achieve my academic goal. Reward or not the feeling that I get from being able to see people feel better and helping the ones in need is more than enough. My extrinsic motivation would have to be my family. I want to show them that I can reach my goal because not finishing my first college an degree gave them the impression that I wouldn 't do anything with my life and by accomplishing this goal it would make them so proud of me and shocked and that 's what I want.…

The constant reminder of achieving greatness has stuck with me since I was eight years old. Throughout middle school I was top of my class, in high school I graduated cum laude with a 4.4 GPA and currently in my 1st year of college I am top of my intermediate/college algebra class, I scored the highest grade out of all 5 of my psychology teachers classes, and I have an A in my Philosophy class. My educational goals consist of gaining knowledge throughout my entire life, achieving higher than my goals, being as involved as I can possibly be with my college/ community, and continuing to prosper. I will patiently be self-motivated to make a smooth transition from high school or college without having an mental breakdown that may cause other complications. Most importantly, I will perfect my time management skills, for I am a firm believer that anything that is lost can be found again except for time wasted. I will use every waking moment to introspectively make a difference. I will be even more motivated to transition to college by remembering that my biggest completion is myself. I am determined to learn from my own mistakes while I am in college and also listen to the advice of others so that I will not wind up in avoidable circumstances. At every moment, I will motivate myself to be better than I was the moment before, for I know that it will be my mission to not only earn a degree, but to gain the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding through the education that I will receive at the university that those who were influential in my upbringing once prayed for. I will be mindful that my transition in college is preparing me for my transition in the workforce. Because of the challenges that I will overcome as I transition to college, I will one day be able to bring forth change on a global level to impact those affected by cardiovascular disease, starting with those who are affected the most: men, women, and children in the south of the United…

I have to keep my job and where it is at though I have an apartment and bills to pay for. That's what driving me to go to college though I'm working at a dead end barely over minimum wage job , forty hours a week for a barely three hundred dollar check. So when the homework piles up before work I will do anything in my power to have that done before I go to work every time I clock in it gives me incentive to not do this job my whole live and have the same set raise for however much effort you put in. Another incentive is I don’t want my son to think he can just not get an education and have that same dead end job that everyone will have in their life, it did take a little push and awakening but when I make a decision I stick to the choice that I'm satisfied…
