Why college education is important to me

College education is important to me because I always wanted to be the first person in my immediate family to obtain not just an associates degree, bachelors degree , but also a masters. I believe that having a degree will allow me to be more marketable in the business world and it gives me more knowledge and information on the degreed topic. Sir Francis Bacon said “knowledge is power,” with that being said I want to obtain as much power as possible.

For example, In the article, “Getting Ready for College Early : Steps 1,2,3 & 4 “ , by the U.S Department of Education, it states that someone who goes to college earns more than someone who does not. By going to college, you will have a higher chance of having a better job and win more money. College is great and can help you have a better future. Additionally, In the 4th article by Allen Grove, he states that your record form your middle school years don’t appear on your college applications. Education is the most important part of my life. Couple reasons why I attend college it’s to better myself, get a higher paying job and get away from home. First, not going to college was not an option for me; furthermore, both of my parents attended college and graduated college and they have the jobs they always wanted. They always encouraged me to get a higher education and I agree. When I see people that struggle with finances because they didn’t go to college; certainly, it made me want to go and get my bachelor’s degree even faster. Second, I do not want to live my life, paycheck to paycheck, and worrying about whether or not I am going to have enough money to pay to keep a roof over my head. The reason for going to college is that I want to have a better life. Finally, college is vital to how far you can go. If I would settle only for a High school diploma or less, I would not go as far as I want to go; I will keep hopping from one dead-end job to another; for instance, my friend who have worked everywhere and is never happy because of the hard work she has to do and little money she gets. I would want to be more as a college graduate who is at home relaxing in my huge house, watching my sixty-four inch Plasma TV in High Definition. I believe that college will lead me to a life of fulfillment and realized dreams. No one ever regretted going to college, I wish I could say the same for the person who…

    Successful Student

What I knew about being a student had changed before I ever thought of attending college, I firmly believed my school days were long behind me at the age of fifty, but that belief turned out to be false. The event that changed my mind was the loss of a job due to a layoff. I knew that due to my advanced age it would be hard to secure further employment without improving my education. The logical place to start would be to obtain my GED. Thinking back to when I was a student, my attitude towards education was not a very good one. I knew little or nothing of the proper study habits that were needed to be a successful student. Most of my efforts were directed to achieving a passing grade; in hopes of not being left behind my classmates. My only thoughts at the time were of getting through school, and starting work in order to raise a family of my own. I didn’t realize how important an education is, and the amount of determination required in making good grades. With no formal training, I had no idea of the concepts involved in becoming successful in my studies such as being an active learner, thinking critically, and creatively, or how to sharpen my classroom skills.…
