Why Kids Should Have Longer School Hours
Imagine a school where you only had four days of school per week instead of five. As it turns out, there is such a school district in Pennsylvania in order to save the district money. Most students are thrilled by this idea, yet some aren't so sure it would be the best thing. I think this would be a good idea and should be pushed out to other districts because kids could get a longer break, more time for extracurricular activities, and there wouldn't be a huge difference anyway.
To begin with, kids normally get exhausted by the middle of the school week because they need a longer break. When you are tired you don't really try, resulting in not learning anything. With a third day, that can exercise by joining a soccer or baseball team to get fit and healthy. When you are sitting at a desk all day, your body becomes restless and needs exercise. Physical learning is being overshadowed by mental education, forcing students to become inactive. Not only that, but if students already get enough exercise, they could take classes outside of school to get help or advance their learning. Lots of students don't truly understand what they are learning in school, and there are tons of programs to help they be a better student.
Not only that, but there are a lot of Mondays in the year that have holidays where the students don't go to school anyway. Days like Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Presidents' Day students don't go to school on, so a few more wouldn't be the end of the world. Moreover, The school could also save money, so the students could go on more educational field trips or get better supplies like books. If the schools still had extra money, the government could lower taxes, helping out the entire
