Why Is The First Olympic Games Be Banned
The 1st Olympic games took place in Olympia, Greece in the year 776BC. It is not known exactly how the games got started since the history is not truly factual, as it is stated that the Greek god Zeus himself initiated the games. So the story goes, that the Olympic games were dedicated to the Olympian Gods and occurred every 4 years for around 12 centuries, until being banned by Emperor Theodosius in 393AD. The Olympic games were often combined with religious festivities and the emperor considered it all part of pagan cults and banned the games. During the time when the games were taking place, the kings involved signed the Olympic Truce or the Ekecheiria. This ensured a Truce period for all to travel and participate safely in the games.
