Why Is Civility Important
In life there are always going to be people who are very disrespectful. Whether the individual is making fun of somebody for what she is wearing, talking while someone else is speaking, or even lying. There are so many ways a person can be rude. These are the reasons why civility and manners are very important in society. Civility is vital to the peaceful, harmonious and cohesive existence of individuals, groups and organizations (Peggy Parks). A person who has manners and civility, demonstrates how one can have politeness, how one has been raised, and also show how one is a well-rounded individual. What is clear is that manners really do matter, and children should be learning them at home and school right alongside reading, writing, math and all the other essential subjects needed for living a productive and satisfying life (Anita Kulick). When one is raised in a home where conversations are held, manners are taken and respect is given, this can make the individual a well-rounded person. These traits can be very important. Having been taught these traits will hopefully spread to others and make them a well-rounded person as well. When having politeness and manners can really change ones appearance to other people. One holding the door for someone who has a lot of their belongings in their hands could make a difference in that person’s life. These are the types of examples that show that manners and civility make one an all-around better individual. Civility and manners are enormous characteristics that each human should have. Having both of these traits will get a person further in life. These traits will also make you feel good about yourself.
