Why I Want To Quit Football
There’s winning and there’s losing and in life both will happen. What is never accepted to me is quitting” That is what Ervin Magic Johnson said on November 7, 1991. This quote is so inspiring to me because my love for the game of football. When I transferred to Marietta High School I quit the game that I loved all my life. But why should I quit the sport that I love and so good at? All my life I have been influenced to play football knowing that most of males in my family have played football. Football is naturally in my blood since my dad was an all-star in high school but mistakes he made messed his football career up. Since football can keep me occupied I don’t think I should just give up and quit like my father did. I want to make my family proud of the talent that god has given me and I should rejoin football. I’ve been looking at lots of sports quotes and Magic Johnson stood out the most because lots of members in my family quit football including the one that has a bedroom …show more content…
I love Saturday morning during football season when I sleep over at my dad’s house because the whole day we would watch little league football games that he would coach. I love it because it reminds me how much I loved the game and how I played when I was little. I think that one reason I quit football is because I’ve always been doubted since middle school because of my height. Playing cornerback at the height of 5’1 covering guys 6’0 and above could be difficult but I didn’t let anything hold me back. Losing is probably one of my fears because of love winning so much. When I lose it makes me so angry but it also lets me know that I have to strive to better myself. I’m pretty sure everyone in this world try there very hardest to try not to lose but it will still happen. Losing is like a nightmare that sticks with me until I find a way to

With reading the article “ Would I let my son play Football”,I came to a consensus that I would let my kid play football. “ How can I bash a game that produced so many friendships, paid for my education, and helped me become comfortable financially” .( Fujita 3). I agree with this article’s statement because football has helped people pay for college and help build their respective careers. Football has also made many people financially stable after playing in college and moving on to the NFL. “Football isn’t for everyone Scott ...but it was definitely for me”. (5). With Football not being for everyone, it is still made for some people, and if my son/ daughter wanted to play football then it would be made for them. The people that are made…

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” A quote made famous by NFL head coach Vince Lombardi winner of the first two Super Bowls ever played, but are these words the motto we should subject our young athletes too? In a Research Digest article titled “Youth Sports In America: an Overview” the Presidents Council On Fitness & Sports talks about the benefits of organized sports. Also in Sports In Contemporary Society Authors: Joan Ryan, Buzz Bissinger, and Mark Hyman write about their encounters with eating disorders, mental and physical abuse in organized sports for youth. First of all, playing sports is one of my favorite things to do. They teach me discipline and I must do and Not do what coach says. Sports also teach me good sportsmanship. I learn to love the game by playing my opponent/friends and showing how to take a win or loss. Last year playing basketball we didn’t lose but one game, I was devastated. I like to think I took the Loss ok but I just blamed it all on myself. I got to show my winning spirts in a ton of games that season, and I think I showed my happiness well. Our team didn’t brag or show off we simply just played our game, and the results turned out as they may.…

One reason why I would allow my son to play football is because it will build his character. “The game challenges and pushes us. It’s often uncomfortable. It requires us to be at our best” (Harbaugh, John). Football has players challenging themselves to see if they can handle it. Those that persevere, develop the “never give up” mentality and carry it with them throughout their life, allowing them to succeed in everything they set their minds to.…

There are over seven billion people on this Earth, so what is it that makes me so different? I wear Nike, I drive a car, I play video games, I have chores, and could be considered a pretty normal person. I love, I laugh, I get angry, and I have emotions just like every other human being. The one thing I heavily identify with is football. For as long as I can remember I’ve played ball, and made some great friends along the way. The picture in the top left is a great representation of this. Football has taught me lessons of leadership, perseverance, toughness, how to deal with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. (Bottom left: aftermath of beating Staley) Above all else, the best thing it has taught me was loyalty. Not only loyalty to a cause, but loyalty to my brothers, and ultimately my family. Football has created a foundation for my character, and without it I am certain I would not be the same person I am today.…

This quote has been the foundation for my father's belief that team sports teach commitment. When I started middle school my father insisted that I do a team sport. At the time I had been riding horses for many years and was facing a fork in the road and had to make a big decision. At 11 years old I changed the course of my life by joining a team sport in which I have learned the value of personal commitment, strong leadership skills, and how to challenge myself to achieve both mine and my teammates’ goals.…

Hopefully one day I can get back on track and be on the field again, it's nothing like being on a football field at night playing for hundreds of fans cheering your name depending on you to win. It's just a good atmosphere to be in . I made my own decision that I would continue to play football, after I got done with recovery. Probably asking in your mind,”Well why do you have to go to rehab?’’ Good question, It was my first game back from my first mishap, where I dislocated my shoulder. I had been playing a little that night, but not a whole lot because it was my first game back and I didn't know much about the position I was playing. It was kickoff, and I was on the very end of the field, in my position ready to make the tackle, bound and determined i was gonna make it. I made the tackle, but it didn't go the way i had planned it to go. Instead of making the tackle and standing up and cheering with the team, I made the tackle and laid on the ground in so much pain i thought…

Ever since my freshmen year of high school, football has been the only thing that has mattered to me. I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…
