Special Forces Officer
A Special Forces Officer leads a company of soldiers into battle. This man or women is a leader and a role model. Their job consists of carrying out secret operations and planning operations, usually overseas. Their working conditions can be harsh, working in temperatures below 32 degrees fahrenheit and temperatures above 90 degrees fahrenheit. Physically, a soldier’s body has to be in tip top shape; the soldier has to be able to exert his body physically over a long period of time without needing a rest period. I am pursuing a career as a Special Forces Officer because I don’t want a job that doesn’t have an effect on the world; I want a career that as an impact on people’s safety and well-being ("SPECIAL).
To become a Special Forces Officer right out of college, one needs to be accepted into the United States Naval Academy. To do that, the soldier needs to have outstanding grades and leadership skills. There are some courses that a candidate is required to take while in high school, which includes four years of math (algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus) and four years of science (biology, chemistry, and physics). In return, they have to serve five years in the military. After they graduate, he/she will become an officer in the field they studied at the academy. As an officer, (Second Lieutenant), a soldier will get paid a minimum of $60,000 a year. When he/she gets promoted to First Lieutenant, there is a $10,000 to $20,000 pay raise (Occupation). If a soldier keeps moving their way up in the ranks, from First Lieutenant to Captain, and then all the way up to Colonel, they will get a pay raise every promotion (Marine). This is interesting to me, because I want to serve my country, graduate college debt free, and earn a good salary right out of college
