Why I Want To Be A Salvation Army Officer Essay
At eight years old, I loved watching Law and Order. I would stay up waiting for the show to come on. It was fun to watch because the detectives on the show get to go to different states to solve crime. I like how detectives get to work on the mission for a long time, and they get to sit down and talk to the family and ask them what happened and who was close to the victim. After questioning and observing, the detectives take all the information back to the lab. There, they get closer to finding the fugitive . I think that’s cool because I’d like to go looking after the person who killed the innocent victim . When I get the person I will read them their rights and send them to jury . They’ll then go to court where they will plead guilty or …show more content…
I’ll be exposed to a lot of kids that get in trouble with the law, I will try to reach out and help them by mentoring them, and getting them back on track. I want to help out single mothers who don't have stable finances. By going to the store and buying them food every Monday or applying for food stamps . Buying them food every Monday will help the family get through the week. I want to provide food on Friday for the Salvation Army. Funding a lot of homeless people who don't have food to eat. The more helpers they have, the more people they can feed ” I will tell them to tell let their other homeless friends know, if they’re hungry. They can come get some food to eat. I just want to help my community out. In this world, a lot of people are going through stuff and not enough people reaching out to help them. I don't want anything in return, I just want to be that person who they can come to for help , if they need anything. My personal strength is social skills. Roleesha Rodwell and I, ironically, did the same nonprofit organization, The Salvation Army. However, our topics are very different. Roleesha pictures voices The Salvation Army as a whole, which is giving back, but my paper voices the awareness of domestic violence of the organization. Her concept of her paper is the organization is giving back to society, volunteering, and donations to support the ones in need. Both of our pictures express pathos, however, her picture makes people want to give back to the community, and my picture aware others about domestic violence.…

I had an amazing opportunity to volunteer at the Salvation Army building on 4th Street, San Jose. The Salvation Army was founded by General William Booth and started in 1865. Since then it has grown to almost 1,150,666 members. It runs through the Protestant Church and they believe in the Holiness Movement. As of currently its headquarters is in London and they can be located in 127 different countries. The reasoning of its name is because it consists of officers, soldiers and adherents who are known as Salvationists. This means to bring salvation to those in need and to the poor.…

I am currently a senior Political Science major, History minor, with a concentration in International Relations. I am also the chairman of the Howard University NAACP Political Action Committee. I am an academic, I am a student leader, but more importantly, I am a servant. It is my firm belief that the reason I was blessed to be given the opportunity to get a college education is so that I can use this privilege and knowledge to help others. Just recently in December I was fortunate enough to go on a service trip to South Africa with the YAALI program. There we did community service and connected with our brothers and sisters on the continent. This was a very impressionable experience for me, especially because it was my first time leaving…

Having been involved in the scouting program for well over a decade and with most of which being during the most formative times of my life, Scouting has certainly contributed to my desire to become a Marine Corps Officer. From the onset of the scouting program I have been instilled with many values, starting every scout function with the scout law, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” While there are many valuable principles thought by both the scouts and the Marine Corps the (65)three main values that both organizations stress of honor, courage, and commitment are among the ones I hold most high. The familiar sense of brotherhood within the Marine Corps is also something that I feel a very close and strong connection with is brotherhood is and was a fundamental part of my close-nit high school community. As an Eagle Scout I was taught to lead by example and as a marine I would strive to do the same, leading from the front and always living up to the standards of honor, courage, and commitment set forth by the Navy and Marine Corps long time-honored history.(63)(128)…

Elementary schools are looking for volunteers to help students with reading and math. I feel I could not only tutor the students, but lead them by example, befriend them and also instill values of NJHS by setting a good example. Last year, after the house explosion in Firestone, my friends and I held a lemonade stand to raise money for the affected families. We were able to raise over two hundred dollars. I feel that by taking the initiative to get out and help I can make a difference in my community.…

At a service academy, the people that attend are there to get an education and train to be an officer in the military. They are there to gain valuable life and military skills. In my opinion, that is more appealing than any college. I want to surround myself with people that have the same goals and aspirations as me, and I believe that the Academy can provide that. During the week that I was at the Air Force summer seminar, I learned about life at the Academy. I knew going into that week, that I would either love it or hate it. Throughout the week I spent time doing physical training, going to classes, and learning about life at the Academy. After that week, I knew I wanted to attend the Air Force Academy. I knew I belonged. I want to attend…

I have come to understand that I have an innate urge to help those more disadvantaged than I. I believe that God has placed this urge in my so that I can be an instrument of his will. We all have the potential and are called to me such an instrument and that calling comes in different avenues for each person. I believe that I have found one such avenue. I learned God understands and know the potential in each person and will task him or her with only the things they have the power to handle. I pray that as the years go forth and I enter into my professional career this experience and other experience will grant me the knowledge on how to create a nonprofit organization that will help the children of Haiti gain a proper education. Joining the marines had always been a goal of mine along with getting my degree. The Marines offer different ways to obtain college credit, with the opportunity to go to college as well.
