Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist
In my future, I hope to become a physical therapist that is able to guide patients to live a healthier and more active lifestyle. I hope to obtain at least a master's degree and be able to work as a physical therapist at a hospital or at a clinic. I considered this degree because of my parents and because of a class I took at Delta College. I once went to a physical therapist with my mother and actually saw the whole process of getting therapy. That caught my interest and I started to research more about this field. I believe that this field will offer me both professional and personal satisfaction because seeing a patient started from the bottom and work their way up is very satisfying. This career will offer me professional satisfaction because I am able to help people and become a physical therapist people can look up to. …show more content…
In this field, I believe that being a successful and professional physical therapist requires the ability to guide a patient from start to finish physically and mentally. Being a professional physical therapist requires the therapist to be able to aid and teach the patient about living a more active and healthy lifestyle. In searching for answers about this field, I found that being a physical therapist is not as easy as it seems. Giving therapy to a patient can be for a short or long time frame, but being able to guide someone to live healthier and more active after the therapy session is what a professional should be able to do. After doing this assignment, I found that this field provides satisfaction but also stress. It is easy to tell a patient what to do outside of the therapy session but the hard part is whether or not they will follow those steps because it requires their effort to those exercises and their choice on their eating

I have chosen the career path to be a Physical Therapist. A Physical Therapist’s job is very detailed and extremely important to the patient’s well-being. Some of their duties include examining patients as they come in to physical therapy, gathering a plan that is going to get them back on their feet, helping them regain strength, ease their pain, and preventing their disabilities from progressing. Two pros of this career, for me, would be examining patient’s data in order to come up with a plan to meet their needs and being able to give medical information to a patient or their family members. Examining a patient is a pro because it’s solely how the patient is going to get treatment. It’s essential to the process because you can’t help the…

What if people lived healthier lives, practiced preventive medicine, and took precautions against illness and disease? My days in the physical therapy department often made me think about the prevention of injuries as well as the injuries themselves. I was already doubting my future career choice as a physical therapist. Although I loved the science of it and helping people, the lack of variety within the field and its limited options for growth bothered me. I needed a career that helped a large number of people, emphasized prevention and primary care rather than tertiary care, and would continually challenge and motivate me to improve. Knowing that I really did not want to pursue physical therapy as I had originally planned, my thoughts wandered to the area of public health, particularly health management.…

I always knew I wanted to have a career in helping individuals, I just never knew what it was. I grew up around a hospital because my mom is a doctor and I would always interact with her patients and got to hear how my mom helped their lives so positively. It was eye-opening to know that just one person could have such a direct impact on so many lives. With that in mind, I decided to start doing research on different healthcare fields. After a couple weeks, I came across occupational therapy. I do not know how to describe the feeling, but I was instantly drawn in to this career, and as I researched, the more intrigued I became. I loved the idea of being able to interact with patients and help aid in their recovery. All the patient stories I read talked about how occupational therapy changed their life and how they have such a positive view of therapy afterwards. I believe this is the right career path for me, because it is going to allow me to positively restore people’s lives. If I can directly help someone heal to the best of their ability after a life-altering situation or complication, I would get such an immense amount of satisfaction. I am a very unselfish person and always find it more rewarding to brighten someone else’s day. With occupational therapy, I hope to…
