Nursing, in my opinion, is one of the most significant professions that one can be blessed to acquire. To those who pursue this field know it is a career that requires far more than simply an education even though the knowledge acquired from a degree is extremely important and necessary, by grasping rationale of the laws and regulations that rule nursing. A career in nursing requires someone to have compassion, sympathy, and care for others, especially those who are suffering from pain, illness and lack the understanding of what is happening to them or a loved one. It is a career of humanity, and it is this that first attracted me to a Masters degree in Nursing. My philosophy about nursing is that it is a career that one has to work hard for, but also a career that a person needs to have to a natural affinity for. I also believe one must have a commitment to helping others not expecting anything in return but a smile and knowing when you go home you gave your all. The ability to be a compassionate, caring nurse is what I hope to bring to the Masters degree in Nursing Program, gaining…

A degree in Nursing could help me follow the path that I have wanted to obtain, for myself and for my family. As a first generation, there are high expectations for me to achieve and continue my studies to provide my sisters with a role model. Picking a college to attend was a pretty big deal to my parents than it was for me, for instance, they wanted me to attend a school that would provide me with a lot of financial aid, a school where it is small enough that I do not blend in, and a school that is known for their Nursing program. With that it lead me to this university, knowing that a small institute would provide me with a better outlook rather than a larger university. My experience so far has been a roller coaster, mostly downs. It was a big transition, going from high school where everything is given to you and you follow the material, to a setting where you have to set yourself and prioritize on what is important and disciplining yourself. The material is quite different as well, in high school, we went over the general and basics of a material while in college we review the basics but go even further into the…

I am a graduate from Glen Oaks Community College and I would love to continue my education with Glen Oaks and their Nursing Program. I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse. RNs can also work in clinics, schools, assisted living facilities, homes, and more. They can also specialize in areas such as cardiac care, midwifery, family practice, geriatrics, labor and delivery and emergency nursing. Basic registered nursing duties: Nursing responsibilities can vary greatly depending on the healthcare setting. They must also stay up-to-date with new tools and technology to help provide the best care to patients and families, and the best support to doctors and other healthcare professionals.…

I chose to do my research paper over RN’s also known as registered nurses. Some of the reasons I would choose to be an RN for my career is because they are always needed everywhere, they make a pretty decent amount of money, and there are many branches of being a registered nurse so you have so much to choose from so you can do something you love for a living. The specific field of nursing I would like to go into is obstetrician, or OBGYN nurse. They care for women from puberty to menopause, they also help women during pregnancy, labor and childbirth, as well as women with health issues with their reproductive system. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2012 (inspiring me to consider the nursing field) and my younger sister was diagnosed with an anxiety and respiratory condition that required my active care. For 4 years I have assisted my mother and sister with their medications by learning and helping them to understand the purpose of each one. bathing my mother, and helping her with any physical needs. There was not a moment that I was not content. After three years in a selective introduction nursing program called Pathways to Nursing offered at Queens borough community college, I earned a CPR certification and have covered many different nursing procedures. Once I made up my mind, I never questioned nursing because I realized it was what I was meant to do. Nursing offers me a level of familiarity with patients that I wouldn’t have as a physician or surgeon.…
