Why Do We Use Slytherins In Harry Potter
Slytherins are obviously much better than those overrated, reckless Gryffindorks. We're cunning, ambitious, and resourceful. We have our own role models, even though some were affiliated with Voldemort, that doesn't change that they did some good in the wizarding world. Most importantly, the guy that brought back Voldemort and the guy that let Voldemort inhabit his body weren't in Slytherin. “Perhaps in Slytherin you'll make your real friends, those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends” (Sorting Hat, Philosopher’s Stone).

To those who have no idea what I'm talking about, in the Harry Potter series, there are four houses in Hogwarts. When young witches and wizards attend the school in their first year, they're sorted into one of the houses based on who they are as a person. Those houses are Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor(k). Slytherin, my house, values ambition, resourcefulness, being cunning, self preservation, fraternity, and traditionalism. Hufflepuffs are hard working, kind, loyal, play fair. People

Not everyone involved with Voldemort was a Slytherin. Like Peter Pettigrew for example, betrayed his friends, got them all killed, and brought back Voldemort. What house was he in? The beloved Gryffindor house, where everyone is a do-gooder. Professor Quirrell too, supported Voldemort, by letting him inhabit the back of his head, and he was a Ravenclaw. Don't forget about Barty Crouch Junior, the son of the head of the magical law enforcement in the Ministry of Magic. We never knew what his house was, but people speculate that he's a Ravenclaw because you have to be incredibly smart to be able to masquerade around Hogwarts as Mad Eye Moody using a polyjuice potion, and messing with the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Even though it's an extremely cunning thing to do, it was never confirmed what house he was

<br>Inside, Hester is confronted with more show and splendor. Not only is the house itself well made and well decorated, but the pair is greeted at the door by one of Bellingham's bond-servants. For a Puritan who is taught (and teaching) that each should be compassionate to his fellow man, owning one as property is fairly misleading to the rest of the colony. The house is fashioned after those of the lords and ladies of England,…

Tim O’Brien’s and my list are different in various ways, though they both begin with some sort of representation of family, showing that kin are highly regarded for each. While both of our lists share this familial aspect, they are more different than alike. First, O’Brien’s and my definitions of home contrast in that he describes home as his entire town whereas I depict my actual home. In The Thing They Carried, he depicted his version of home through the townsfolk and the people he grew up with. He mentions his “old teachers and girlfriends and high school buddies” (O’Brien 58).…

Children in school are well behavior and know that they should always do as they are told by the teacher. The Amish culture teaches children and adults that they should be kind, nonaggressive, and respectful to others. The Amish do not receive money from the government, they are not allowed to participate in war, they don’t believe in material things, and they don’t believe in living in the city. The Amish do not use or have any electronics. They believe that you should feel blessed for what God gives you in life. They speak in a version of Pennsylvania Dutch. The Amish do not drive cars; their means of transportation is horse and buggy. In many people’s eyes, the Amish are strange and very different. As English men and women, we do not understand this way of life. We are used to and embrace all the modern conveniences. In the Amish culture, this simple way of life is normal and what they believe in. I think that this source is one of the best one I found on Amish culture for a research paper. It goes into great detail about what how the Amish live and what their value system is.…

The dyadic pairing of the Harry and Voldemort’s wands foreshadow things to come in the later novels, but more importantly, draws upon the readers’ preconceptions of good and evil, or light and dark. It is because of the pairing between Harry and Voldemort’s wands, that the reader is able to fully understand both the character of Harry, and the reasoning behind his choices. Because his wand, which is a part of his identity, is completely connected to the evil, or darkness, that is Lord Voldemort, he makes sure that throughout the rest of the novels, his choices reflect good, or…

The Sorting Hat is a legendary artifact that every new member experiences when joining Hogwarts. The Sorting Hat has been passed down from founders who created each house. Along with the hat is the personalities each founder possessed in order to help the hat determine which people possess the qualities each house contains. The Sorting Hat has the magical ability to place a student in one of the four houses it feels would result in bringing out the best qualities in a person, whether it’s a persons need or desire for cognition, agreeableness, bravery or self-righteousness. The Sorting Hat bases its decision on a person’s personality and qualities it sees or feels would best fit in at a certain house whether its Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw,…
