What reasons might a “peace-loving” man have for carrying a gun?

I believe men should all carry guns. The reasons are very simple my dad always told me “Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops busting knuckles and starts busting caps and usually it is when he becomes too old to take an ass whooping." I do not carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.” Those words will always stay with me. I will use myself as an example, I have a gun permit. I am a peace-loving, godly man. I am a Christian but I do not carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I do not carry a gun because I am paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I do not carry a gun because I am evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I do not carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of the government. I do not carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. "Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whooping.

Some may say that I will be more prone to use my gun if I carry one. My dad always told me never to pull a gun on anyone unless I planned on using it. Those words are about as true as they can be. I have seen people get their ass whipped for pulling a gun and not having the balls to pull the trigger. Before I decided to carry a gun I always say to myself carrying one is one thing, but are you absolutely sure you could pull the trigger if you had to? And are you absolutely sure you could deal

It is quite clear that by looking at criminals intentions and the overall protection of our country's people gun control should not be administered. Since the establishment of our great nation guns have played a central role and have been of great importance. Though some may think that guns are weapons of war, crime, and violence our Founding Fathers realized they were an essential right that needed to be preserved for the citizens. In the Bill of Rights the Second Amendment of the Constitution reads "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." Many Americans believe that Gun-Control Laws should be enforced, because “Individuals do not need guns for protection; it is the role of local and federal government to protect the people through law enforcement agencies and the military.” (http://www.StudentNewsDaily.com) All Individuals deserve the right to carry a gun with them at all times, to use for protection. According to the Second Amendment in the Constitution, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/second_amendment) Obtaining a gun, gives one the sense of feeling safe and protected given any situation. No one knows when they may be “attacked” or in danger, and the protection they need from the government may not always be there to protect them. Every American must learn self-defense and use it when needed, they shouldn’t have to rely and anyone but themselves.…

Stricter gun laws should not be put in place because people feel safer owning a gun. Since it is impossible for our government to protect every family from every break in or every assault, it is necessary to own a gun. Even walking around on the street with a concealed carry firearm would make anyone feel safer. In fact, (1) states that implemented "shall-issue" concealed carry laws reduced murders by 8.5%. So not only does it make you feel protected, it also gives criminals a reason to not go after you. This is just one of the many reasons why more strict gun control laws would not be the best idea.…

Citizens of the United States have different views on gun control. Some citizens demand it because they think that all the violence will stop. Others think they will be safe if they are armed. Both stances are some what correct and they are both similar. If criminals that people are armed they might not try to rob or mug the citizens or committee crimes. But it also not good to have everyone armed. That's why it should be States rights so the people choose not the Government. This is popular sovereignty, it's government for the people by the people also their individual rights.…

Bearing arms gives people an easier solution to wound or kill someone. Allowing ordinary citizens to bear arms whether for self-defense or target training should not be allowed as these weapons are frequently used for the wrong reason; for example, using the weapon with the intention to wound or kill someone. Many countries that allow citizens to have the right to bear arms contain many reports on deaths from gunpoint. In USA alone, on average 10,000 people die a year due to firearms, whether the deaths are murder, from self-defense or accidents. Ordinary citizens should not be given the right to bear firearms as it provides an easier way to kill or wound someone, rather than actually help the people.…

Some gun advocates claim that they carry guns as a form of self-protection. However, this has been scientifically proven to be untrue. A study done by the University of Pennsylvania on the 677 shootings over the span of two and a half years indicate that people who carry guns are 4.5 times more likely to be shot than an unarmed person, and 4.2 times more likely to be killed by a gun (Callaway). The author claims that the reason for these statistics is that guns give people false senses of empowerment that make them overreact in volatile situations (Callaway). Carrying a gun not concealed is like painting a bull’s-eye(s) on oneself rather than self-defense, especially when it might foster delusions of empowerment. Even statics discourage gun possession; through legislating stricter gun laws, this can ensure public…

Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self defense. Armed citizens kill more criminals than police do. They shoot and kill twice as many in a year then they do. Which is something cool to know about concealed carry. Although, the second amendment of the US constitution allows citizens to bear arms, adults should have the right to concealed carry, because criminals are less likely to attack someone that might have a gun, criminals carry concealed carry regardless of legality, and carrying a concealed weapon could help stop all of the shooting sprees.…

Gun Safety has been a big topic that people are speaking of all the time. The Second Amendment says that citizens have the right to bear arms. That amendment was created for militias as America had become free and they didn’t want any surprise attacks from Britain incase they tried to take America back, now America and Britain are close allies. Everyday on the news there’s always a shooting and maybe it’s because guns are easy to access. I do not think that civilians need guns. Now some might argue that the police are corrupt and that they don’t want to rely on the police to do something that they can handle but that is their job. If guns are banned than their needs to be higher protection against smuggling as criminals will obviously not…

“A 2013 research article in the Wall Street Journal reported that the average police response time to an emergency call is 11 minutes, with some responses taking much longer”(“Should Adults Have the Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun?”-Pro 6). This quote shows that police can’t always get to the situation fast enough to stop it. If you have the ability to stop it before anyone is killed or hurt then that is considered safety and defense. For another example, according to Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack, “police do very little to prevent violent crime. We investigate crime after the fact.” This shows that even when a shooting does break out they usually get the guy buy investigating not stopping him. To further explain, according to “Should Adults Have the Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun,” “In addition, the Supreme Court has ruled more than once that police officers have no legal duty to protect citizens from violent crime.” This is explaining how even though people think that cops are going to stop a crime, the cops aren’t responsible for protecting the citizens. This is basically saying that citizens are responsible for protecting themselves. How are you going to protect yourself from a shooter if you don't have a weapon. You can defend yourself from an armed person with nothing. It's like trying to get water from an empty glass, it will never…

It has been a proven fact that the states with stricter gun control have increased the crime rate by a lot. That is happening because some people still have guns and the government are disarming everybody else which makes it easier to rob store gas stations and banks. “Although guns killed 35,957 people in 1995 the guns didn’t pull the trigger people did.”(Schmittroth 3) Most of those killings were from having gun control. If we got rid of gun control it would reduce the amount of crimes that go on in the United States. Most of the guns in the United States protect lives more than they take lives. But that only happens when there is no gun control. And handguns are perfect for women to keep in there purse to have for self-defense. But the government is trying to pass gun control which will leave most of the women defenseless. Which bad thing is that approximately 200,000 women in the United States use guns to protect themselves from sexual crimes every single year. And guns prevent more injures than they…

Should the mere fact that criminals committing crimes with the use of guns infringe the national right of the innocent to possess guns. This is a question that arouses everywhere and no matter which way it is viewed the controversy will always go on. "A gun is a mere tool that can be used for good or evil. Our country is based on the belief that man is good until he or she is proven to be otherwise."(Harris p.2) This means that only a few people are committing crimes with uses of guns and why completely remove them from society. Therefore, we should strenuously protect the rights of free men and likewise prosecute and punish the criminals who abuse the rights of others. The problem with gun violence is associated with the child's atmosphere. Moreover, we need to educate young children about responsibly handling guns and educate them to respect life and the life's of others. The movement of gun control exploits every celebrated act violence and offsetting the hundreds of thousands of cases in which guns are used as defensive weapons to save live and property of the innocent. Moreover, guns do more good that bad. This issue completely contradicts the Second Amendment which states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the rights of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."…
