What Is a Good Life?
A good life is not a specific way of life for every person. For each person, the meaning of a good life differs. What ever way of life a person is comfortable and happy with counts as a good life for that person. in my opinion, a good life is when i have as much control as possible over my life so that i can change anything i don't like into something i am happy with.
With the control i want over my life i would also like to be able to let things go freely when ever i feel like it and " go with the flow"and live the day as it goes. it is always good to know that you have the ability to control your life and at the same time feel free to relax and enjoy the randomness of it all. other than the control and the freedom, an active social life would be considered as a part of a good life. Having people around me such as friends and family that i can rely on when ever i need them is important inorder to have a "good life".
Having people around me is a good thing if i also get my time alone. I like to be independant but have the choice and the chance to depened on other people when ever i need or want to.
A nother meaning in my opinion of a good life is a life that i have lived fully in every way possible to the maximum efficency. In other words, i live my age as i should be living it and enjoy every part of it.
It is imposible to say that one way of life is a good way of life because each person prefers different things and wants different things. so a good life is a life which i get what i want and what i need when i want it and when i need it. what i want for my life inorder to achieve a good life is that i be succesful in my chosen career, be inlove with a person who loves me back, make a family that is stable and loving with the person i love, provide a healthy and happy life for my family, become a usefull person in the society, try to contribute in improving othere people's quality of living, make a good difference in the world even if it is a minor difference.
When i achieve all of that, i then could say i lived a good life and i have achieved what i wanted from my life.

Aristotle believes that one’s accomplishments in being happy are the driving force to a “Good Life”. The good life creates a happiness that relates to one functioning well and reason. Aristotle believes that it takes time, hard work and restraint to get to the employ the habits of reasoning and according to him everything has a purpose (Rachels and Rachels, pg 54). Aristotle states that “Good” has rightly been defined as “that at which all things aim” and that people identify happiness with living well or doing well (Sommers & Sommers, 2010).…

I agree that the definition of a flourishing life is subjective. While Harry Brighouse has defined what he believes to be a flourishing life, I think he is sympathetic to the idea that this concept is in fact subjective. In the reading he demonstrations this by stating “I am not, in fact, arguing that children should be forced to live their lives in some particular way” (52). Within his central argument, purposing education’s main purpose is to promote human flourishing, I think Brighouse suggest a general idea of a foundation that leads to a flourishing life. Upon becoming an adult, and knowing what is best for oneself, the individual would then be able to make decisions as to what they believe will result in a flourishing life.…

Graduating college, getting a job, getting married, buying a house and having kids. For most people these are joyous events that are celebrated with family and friends; and come with hard work. However some people have a different mindset towards life. They perform tasks for the mere sake of getting the job done and life almost seems like a check list. There is a difference between being alive and truly living. Being alive is fulfilling the responsibilities and duties that are required of you. Truly living is when you seize every moment and make the most of it. One appreciates the small pleasures in life and is satisfied with what he or she has. It is easy to go through life without realizing you are not enjoying it. We get so caught up in trying to be the best version of ourselves that we don’t stop and appreciate the small things that bring every day…

Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. He understood that although a person is breathing, he is not truly alive unless he is living for a purpose. A good life is one that is lived with the intention of constantly bettering oneself and the world in which they live. Unfortunately, this life can only be attained by making sacrifices. Time and independence are both expenses that must be paid in order to live a meaningful, and therefore good, life.…

Happiness does consist in living in accordance with reason. For a man to be happy his soul must function and have activity. If a man is to have happiness he must find the right middle ground. Too much of something or too little of something will not be what he needs. Since happiness is having everything you may want or need it must be within reason because having too much will cause certain evils. Aristotle says “the good of a man is an activity of the soul in conformity with excellence or virtue, and if there are several virtues, in conformation with the best and most complete. In a complete life” Everyone must strive for excellence in what they do but they must still conform to…

Everyone grows up with different values and way of living their lives. I grew up being taught that the finer things in our lives are what make us whole. I believe that to lead a good life, is to enjoy every second you have with the people you love the most. I believe that we as humans need our God, our family and an open heart to have lasting happiness.…
