[Insert New Analogy Here]. Similarly, aid programs do not simply acquire money and then immediately millions of children instantly receive vaccines or clean water. It costs money to advertise to potential donors, purchasing resources, and transporting those resources to developing countries. For more complex needs, especially medical, agencies must find and provide transportation for medical professionals. They must also provide clean places to store medical supplies, perform surgeries, and check on patients. All of the expenditures to transport resources and materials costs money that agencies subtly hide from the public eye by using. Foreign aid agencies hide much of the complexity involved with delivering even the smallest of resources through their vague representation of the foreign aid…

Hospitals in the United States first came into existence as “institutions of social welfare,” to provide for the sick, the poor, and to treat diseases. These facilities were mainly run and supported by charities. (Barton, 2009, p.252). Over time, with America’s capitalistic society, the emergence of for-profit hospitals began to compete with non-profit hospitals. Similarities between the two include utilizing the same commodities, i.e. healthcare workers, technology to perform tests, and equipment such as hospital beds. They also both receive payments from Medicare, Medicaid,…

In Thanks Bono, but No Thanks, Jamie Drummond talks about how good aid is beneficial to African countries. “Good aid, what he calls ‘smart aid,’ which helps people build businesses and take care of their own children—is not only beneficial, it's necessary. Without it, people would die.” In that quote, he explains how good aid that keeps people alive and well is necessary in poor regions of Africa. People living in situations like in South African slums or selling secondhand clothing in Zambia usually have an extremely hard time taking care of children and starting businesses up. Good aid gives them a boost, not money to leech off of, so they can start up a better life. If aid is donated to a responsible organization that will make sure the money gets to people who need it and will put it towards growth, then aid will work in poor African…
I created the Humanitarian Club to promote global issues in my school and also to promote Special Education inclusion. After drafting a proposal, I went through my school's principal and got approval to submit it to the school board. My club got approved by the school board and ever since then, we've made a huge impact on the community. Last year we made 118 Operation Christmas boxes that were sent around the world. Some other projects include promoting inclusion with our Special Ed children by participating in Special Olympics sporting events, philanthropy work for community improvements such as a much needed guardrail to prevent more deaths, and animal welfare events to promote spaying and neutering. The club has benefited the Special Education…
