The Industrial Revolution had many effects on the way of life and countries growth afterwards. Some negative effects include, unfair working conditions, union strikes, pollution and child labor. A few of the most important positive effects of the I.R. were, unions formed, new transportation, the need for raw materials and new markets, and Imperialism. These effects lead directly into imperialism and the need to imperialize. The Industrial Revolution motivated European nations to compete for overseas colonies with economic reasons, Nationalism, and a feel of dominance or Social Darwinism. Overall, the Industrial Revolution made imperialism possible. Economic reasons were big motivators in imperialism because they were the main reasons to expand Europe’s colonies further. Finding new markets was like a domino effect for businesses. First, the business would have the need for new materials and markets. Second, the business would find the raw materials and new markets. Third, the business would make more sales and more sales would mean more money. More money would keep the business growing and successful.
