Positive Changes In The 1800s
During the 1800s, there was an era called the Industrial Revolution, which resulted in many positive changes and influences on the world such as technology advancement, new machines, and better lives for the people. For these reasons, goods were produced cheaper, people earned more money by working in the factories, and there was better infrastructure than before the Revolution.
Although there were many positive changes, there were still some negative results of the Revolution. One of the main negative effects was the increase in child labor; children of ages 5 and up worked long hours in poor conditions. These children would start working from five in the morning until nine at night and get only one forty minutes break during the day. They …show more content…
The positive changes that came from the Industrial Revolution included more jobs and money for the people, new technologies, and better transportation systems. Before the 1800s, many women and children could not work, which resulted in a lower standard of living. After the factories opened, mostly everyone could work and earn money for shelter, food, and clothes. In addition to working at these factories, the workers made items which the people could buy for cheaper prices. Some of these items included tools for houses, clothing, and domestic utensils. (D11) In addition, transportation improved during this era. After the 1800s, there were more trains and railroads, and automobiles were invented as well. Because of this, people could get to their locations faster and have businesses develop worldwide. (D8) Finally, better treatments for illnesses and more effective medications were discovered since people began to get sick due to pollution and long, poor working conditions. For these reasons, the Industrial Revolution had many positive aspects and improved life worldwide.
Some may argue that the Industrial Revolution had mostly negative effects because it made lives worse because of pollution, high risk of death, and child labor/poor working conditions.
