If there is a busy schedule between both parents during the day, Fridays off for students will help parents work and not worry about their kids if their kids were to go to a family member's house or sleep over a friend's house. Parents will save money if students go to their family or friends house instead of the parents hiring a baby sitter. A four day school week may come in handy if you have the entire Friday off to schedule appointments with doctors or dentists. If there was a Friday a student was taken out of school to go to the dentist, but the dentist was packed, he would be late to go back to school. Four day school weeks may alter that a little, say on a normal Friday, that the dentist would be full of students, but if there was no school on Friday, then there would be any line to wait in, and no rush to get back to school before school is over. The other upside of having Fridays off is that parents can do errands with out interruptions. If students have Fridays off, they can go to a friend's house so that their parents can run errands without interruption. According to Jami Dow, a mother who moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota ( a district that has a four day school week) three years ago to be closer to her parents, said, "Many families use the extra day to schedule doctor and dentist…

Over all public schools, there are only 4% that operate on a year round calendar. In that 4% there are 2 million students learning under a year round basis. Besides, year round schedules mitigate education loss from the previous school year. It also tarnishes the tradition of summer break, according to “Should You Give Up Summer Vacation?” by Laura Kelsey. Evidently the year round calendar is a prime solution to alter failing grades and help struggling students catch up. For instance, some students are overwhelmed with work and drama that occurs in school. With that in mind, year round schedules have more spread out recesses eradicating the overwhelming school environment. Simultaneously, year round calendars lessen memory loss between long breaks. Thus helping students retain and understand their curriculum. Lastly, studies show that American students are less proficient in academic topics.…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

One of the major benefits of year-round school is that it aids students in a way that they can increase their overall grade. Students are less likely to forget what they have previously learned in school due to the lack of large breaks in the school year. Most importantly, there is more time. More time for school means more time can be devoted to each unit or section of material a teacher is covering. Less pressure to learn information in two weeks or even a month can help students apply their new knowledge to the long-term memory and gives more time for student to comprehend ideas in a more complex manor.…

Why were schools traditionally set up to give students the summer off? When schools started mostly all of students came from a farming family, and they needed to be out of school to help on the farm. Many people know that there are not as many students coming from farming families today, so why do most schools still operate on this schedule? While some parents believe that year-round schooling decreases family time and causes student burn out, in reality frequent breaks provided by year-round schooling revamp students’ interest, help prevent loss of learning especially in low income students, and provide many family benefits.…

Many people believe that the best way for students to be taught nowadays is through year-round schooling. This idea would break off from the traditional way of having nine months of school and three months of summer. Instead, the school would have a certain number of days, which is then followed by a long break. This would last year round and there would be no big summer break. The length of the school portions and break portions would be determined by the school; some more common calendar setups include but are not limited to periods consisting of thirty days of school followed by fifteen days of break, sixty days of school with twenty days of break, or ninety days off school and thirty days of break. In larger schools, they could use the…

If they were to change the traditional school schedule, it would be a lot of confusion especially for parents that have to worry about getting their child to school. It would also cost our country a lot of money to switch the traditional school schedule. By eliminating summer break, students would not be able to experience the joy and freedom of the summer and the special time that would usually be spent with family and friends. Then when everyone goes back to school, they reunite with their friends from the last year or meet new people. If you take away a student's ability to have a vacation you increase the risk of…

Schooling is one of the most important key concepts of anyone’s lives. Going to school and getting good grades depends on how well your future will be. If I could plan my ideal school, I would make it to where we go to school all year and then get a 3 or 4 month break, I would start school at a later time, depending on age and grade, one last thing I would change are the ways of extra curricular activities, like when they take place and how they take place.…

Some people that might not like the schedule change, would be parents. Some parents could think, that this could be the best thing, or the worst thing to happen. Some might not like it because, of the change. Parents don’t usually like change, they genuinely don’t want their children to have it harder on themselves then it already was before. Parent might not also like how the school year would still have nine week quarters, but then followed with three weeks of break. On the other hand, parents might also like it. Why parents might like it would be, that their child would not cause that much trouble around the house, or on the street. It really goes both ways in this situation, and it depends on what kind of parent you talk to.…

First and foremost, having a 5 day weekend makes the day shorter. In other words, one is released earlier from school. For example, having shorter school days causes classes to be shorter, making students receive less work. Obtaining too much work can cause students to put less effort in their work and there would also be no need to make up any extra days, which takes up more summer time. Attending a certain number of days can expand the amount of summer. Staffs and graduates may have a longer summer break, and they can enjoy their vacation.…
