Professional credential/ licenses benefits The army has and is continuing to develop programs to assist soldiers and units with obtaining credential’s that will help them transition from the military to a civilian job. Obtaining credentials and license’s is a way to show an employer that you have a certain skill which in return could result in you being or not being hired for a job. The military also uses credentials and license’s to certify or higher medical staff in some cases you will not be hired until you provide the write documentation. Soldiers will benefit from obtaining there credential’s while still serving as in some cases can qualify them for a certain position that could mean career advancement. Soldiers must recertify soldiers who fail to do so will be given 90 extra calendar days failure to do so could result in license’s suspension or forfeiture. It is the responsibility of every soldier and civilian to maintain their license for their required field of work no one else will be held responsible but the individual. Deployment or any extended training exercise dose not exempt any soldier or civilian from meeting the requirements set in place. The individual will be reimbursed for up to $500 of what they have spent on a class or certification to obtain a license in their field that is required by law to have. All though legislation can provide a waiver to individuals who have not yet obtained there license and or certification it is not likely that this will happen. All contracted workers must maintain the same license or certifications as everyone else. The career skills program (CSP) allows for soldiers to capsize on their experience and continue to develop as a soldier. The CSP offers programs to soldiers such as on the job training apprentship this helps soldiers on their transition to the civilian world. CSP’s fall under the transition process and should not be miss interoperated as education programs. In order to qualify for this program soldiers must have served on active duty for a 180 calendar days and be with in a 180 days from ETS. The only approving authority is a battalion commander or equivalent and cannot be delegated to anyone else.
