Welding Problems
My problem is that we, as teenagers, are for the most part treated unfairly by generations that have been in careers longer. Many high schoolers have practiced certain careers for years whether it be through a shop class or art class. I am one of these students. Since I was around ten I have been good at building things and driving, specifically building things. I have always helped my dad with projects and frequented the manufacturing where he works as a head manager. There a picked up many new words and many new skills, one of which is welding. I have been welding since I was 13 years old, that is three years which is longer than some of the people who get the jobs. I understand that I as a sixteen year old cannot get a full time job as a

It's not common to see teens in the work field nowadays. Many blame the job market for this, as they claim: "They don't produce jobs for students anymore". However, in the passage "WHY MORE TEENAGERS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS NEED TO WORK WHILE IN SCHOOL" by Jeffrey J. Selingo, he attempts to convince readers why college and high school students should be working during the school year. Jeffrey uses a handful of powerful claims backed up by appealing evidence to shut down the stereotypical claim that the job market is to blame for why these students don't have correct work ethics. Students would rather pay for loans than take a job for a general and truthful claim.…

Sewing is a hobby of mine that has grown over the years. I have sewn several items, but welding caps seem to be the most profitable. I am convinced that the pressure to join the workforce at an early age and continue employment throughout college is a huge distraction to many students of today. People don’t see this as an accomplishment anymore because it is expected; most students are employed at some point during their education placing a burden on the student. According to Professor Ellen Greenberger, the lead author of the study called “Self-Entitled College Students: Contributions of Personality, Parenting, and Motivational Factors,” believe that parental pressure, competition amongst peers & a heightened sense of achievement anxiety as also to blame for student’s sense of entitlement. I can attest to the pressures of society to succeed this is, however, no reason to become an undeveloped…

The United States Constitution is often called “a miracle document” because it has proved so enduring while so many other attempts at self-government have failed. In reality, it was a miracle of sorts that the Constitutional Convention ever materialized in the first place. This is one of the reasons I believe the constitution is still relevant. The articles of confederation weren’t working so the constitutional convention was finally held in order to draft the more permanent document.…

It was not until I was fifteen that I was able to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. This realization came from spending eight weeks working as a camp counselor to a large group of six year old boys. When I started working part of me was excited to finally have a job and responsibility, but the other part of me dreaded spending my entire summer away from my friends. A few hours into my first day I knew I was going to have one of the best summers I have ever had. This…

Now more than ever, somebody has to do the manual labor that few want to do like fixing cars, unclogging toilets, and building houses. These jobs are sometimes seen as “lower-level” jobs. However, there are times when certain people genuinely want to do them. “Many are hustled off to college, then to a cubicle, against their own natural inclinations and bents, when they would rather be learning how to build or fix things” (Source A). This can show just how certain students do not have the ability to do what they really want as a career.…

I have a passion for science, a knack for math, a love for building and thinking visually, and I would be an excellent contributor to a lab research project. The most success I experienced in General Chemistry was in the lab component; I loved making what we were learning in class tangible in the lab and found writing lab reports to explain it all to be the most enjoyable part of the class. I earned a high grade on all of my lab reports, due to of the quality of my data. Many students had problems with accuracy and precision, which resulted in having trouble writing a good report, but getting good data was one of my strengths, and was noted in my report feedback. I have a lot of experience with physical shop work, having taught a welding class…

As the education system and workforce changed over the years, more of the general public pushes their younger generations to hold their job at an office, opposed to learning a trade, in order to 'contribute more to the society', which is masked by 'earn more money'. This has taken a toll for those who wants to follow their endeavor for what they actually love, by their…

But what if teenagers do go beyond the usual expectation of simply graduating high school and going to college? People don't expect teenagers to do much beyond that. I believe we are capable of more. We can make an impact on the world. Teenagers are still young. Their minds haven't been damaged by society yet. However we have to set our mind to it. If we just keep living life like we do right now then society will keep having the same low expectations about us as they do right now. We have to rise up to our own expectations.…
