I.M. Cantata, Senior Vice President
International Mechanistics Group (IMG)
560 Commercial Centre,
Jasola, New Delhi- 110025

Dear Ms. Cantata:

It has been a while since I met you at the international convention in Los Angeles, California, and I hope that you are doing well. We talked about our sons when we first met, and the challenges of parenting. My son is doing much better; we took him to another doctor and got a second opinion, and we are now on the path of being healthy. I am excited about what this year will bring for him and I wish the same for your son.

We also spoke at the convention about International Mechanistics Group expanding and developing a presence in North America. IOP Corporation is based in the United States, but has also strong relationships with sister businesses in Canada. My role with IOP Corporation is to continue to develop and expand those relationships. After we met, I researched the new products that International Mechanistics Group is distributing and IOP Corporation feels that we would offer a great partnership to expand distribution to North America. IOP Corporation is nationally recognized in the top 30 of the top 100 ranked ethical businesses in North America by Audit Integrity. In addition, IOP Corporation has been doing business for over ninety years and has operated with the highest level of reliability and trust from our current partners. We strive to not only meet and exceed short term goals with our partners, but we also seek longstanding and continuing distribution expansion that would maximize the potential of International Mechanistics Group.

I understand that you will be in Hong Kong for the Business Asia Conference, and I would love the opportunity to introduce to you IOP Corporation’s Development Vice President, Jon Frost. Jon Frost and I will be traveling to Hong Kong next month on business. With

My site of investigation is a dance studio, namely Fit Dance Studio, in Kowloon Bay. It has been, without a second thought, chosen for my ethnographic research because I have been an active participant over there recurrently for five years on a regular basis. I have been going to the dance classes and joining regular parties with other participants, including dance tutors and students of different ages and backgrounds from time to time. In this regard, my ethnographic data may sound and accurate with my understanding about the community. I acquire the data through observational techniques and participation in the practice. Since my participation is a long process of approximately five years, I believe I am a competent member and my analysis is representative to illustrate the ideas of interdiscourse communication in this site.…

Individualist cultures, such as those of the United States and Western Europe, emphasize personal achievement regardless of the expense of group goals, resulting in a strong sense of competition. Individualistic cultures are those that stress the needs of the individual over the needs of the group as a whole. In this type of culture, people are seen as independent and autonomous. Social behavior tends to be dictated by the attitudes and preferences of individuals. Cultures in North America and Western Europe tend to be individualistic. A few common characteristics of individualistic cultures. . Individualism, as the name indeed suggests, describes the human characteristic of on a deep level thinking in a way where the individual self is prioritized rather than a social institution such as a family, workplace or society when compared to an individual who is more collectivistic. International and Intercultural Communications have been of great interest to the Hofstede Centre for many years. In fact Geert Hofstede’s dimensions of culture have been the most widely disseminated of all theories. Hofstede’s five cultural dimensions are, “1) Power Distance, 2) Individualism or Collectivism, 3) Masculinity-Femininity, 4) Uncertainty Avoidance, and 5) Short or Long Term Orientation.” (Donald Baack, 2012, Chapter 2.4). “Professor Geert Hofstede conducted one of the most comprehensive studies of how values in the workplace are influenced by culture. He analyzed a large database of employee value scores collected within IBM between 1967 and 1973. The data covered more than 70 countries, from which Hofstede first used the 40 countries with the largest groups of respondents and afterwards extended the analysis to 50 countries and 3 regions.” (The Hofstede Center, n.d.). In the next few pages I will compare the similarities and differences in scores between the countries of Croatia and Slovenia in relation to Hofstede’s five cultural dimensions as well as provide a scenario involving two organizations, one located in each country and their business practices relating to the different cultural perspectives.…

In society there are four building blocks of intercultural communication. They are culture, communication, context, and power. Culture can be viewed as patterns of learned beliefs that are shared through generations. It is often considered to be the main concept in intercultural communication, and how we think about culture affects our idea and perceptions. Throughout the world there are many differences between cultures. For example in France, it is customary to greet the shopkeeper before beginning to select items, while in America it is our cultural norm to enter the store, begin to shop, and pay for the items. By thinking about our culture we can broaden our perception to consider different views of culture.…
