What I learned in Visual Merchandising

I am really glad that I took this class this semester. It helped me to further my knowledge on things that are important for my major (Fashion Merchandising). I learned how to work with others, which I have not had to do in a while. The class also helped me to present in front of a group of people, which I thought I was not comfortable with, but once I did it, it gave me the feeling that I can do this anytime!
I learned the basic rules on how to do a window display, the different parts of a window, and what different types of window advertisements are designed to do, such as promote a cause, or sell merchandise. I learned the principles of design, that all designs must display balance and proportion. Four types of balances are formal, informal, in balance and out of balance. Displays should follow the rules of AIDA, which is attracting attention, stimulate interest, create desire, and motivate action. Displays have different themes, and there are four ways to show merchandise. Display arrangements include pyramid, step, zig zag, radiation, repetition, progression, and alternation
I learned the principles of design, about unity and harmony, and different colors on the color wheel. There are primary colors, secondary, and tertiary colors. I learned the different types of color schemes, and how some colors coordinate with each other.
If it was not for the presentations, I would not have known that so many stores and businesses have so much to offer, especially the business I did which was the body shop.
I made new friends, got to meet a great teacher, and I actually had fun, learned, and loved coming to

My freshman year at St. Dominic High School was pretty fun, I met a lot of great people and I did a lot of fun thing. During this past year I went to some of the football team’s home games and I helped out setting up and working backstage on the production of See Them Run and A Christmas Carol. I enjoyed helping out in the plays because even though we were all tired and sore at the end of a practice we knew it would be worth.…

Getting to see everybody everyday can get tiring, in which you want out, but realizing that I'm going to actually graduate in 15 days, it makes me think of all the good times and how I’m going to miss not going to the same school as my brother, and having to make new bonds with new people nonstop and getting new teachers every year that could care more than others or not care as much, and to me 90% of a teacher's job, is caring for their…

Attending the Pride friday at IUPUC before the beginning of school has been one of the most helpful events. By going to this I met some friends and learned more about the school itself. Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…

It was about 11:00am eastern time, it was warm out so I want to say maybe mid July early August. I was at work kicking it in the fitting room when I heard someone calling my name over the walkie stating that I had a phone call. Once confirming the message I hesitated before answering for I thought to myself who could this be calling me at work and not on my cell. I prayed it wasn’t some crazy customer asking me to pull outfits for them. I answered with a sigh of relief it turned out to be my boy Nahom. I was relieved but perplexed. “Yo” he said I’m out, “Out” ? I replied Out he said, “I’m in Philly” “Philly” ? I replied “Yes Philly” he said last night, I decided to take a chance when I was driving home it just came to me If I ever want to be happy I got to find what truly makes me happy, you know separate myself from everyone and everything focus on me and you know see who make it back in the end“.…

My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

I was able to learn that I can. I can take high school and college classes together. I can manage a social life while at CSN. I can spend countless hours of doing homework and studying without freaking out. I had to have a new understanding of my self; I had to be an adult. The people at my college did not see me as a high school student many of them did not know I attended high school. I also learned about others and how to cooperate better with other individuals. I was able to see an array of different people, something I would not be aloud to experience at a normal high school. Through countless group projects, labs, and group oriented work I was able to out my self in other peoples shoes and see the situation from another perspective.…

I loved the curriculum and thrived in the smaller environment. Learning about the healthcare field and preparing to play a role in helping people achieve wellness was exciting. I loved being able to walk into the classroom and see all of those children run up to me with smiling faces saying that they miss me, asking me if I will be staying the whole day or asking me if I could play or read with them. They make me laugh, they give me hugs, they cheer for my presence and they are so observant. The most amazing feeling of all though is when the children tell me they…
