Does the violence in video games really influence the violence in the youth?

According to humanillnesses.com, violence is the use of physical force to injure people or property. Influence is a person or thing with the capacity or power to have an effect on someone or something. According to videogames.procon.org, 60% of middle school boys and 40% of middle school girls who played at least one Mature-rated (M-rated) game hit or beat up someone, compared with 39% of boys and 14% of girls who did not play M-rated games.With that being said, many video games show violence such as Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Mortal Combat, and Call of Duty that influence the youth. When teens play these m-rated video games the can be influenced into trying some of the thing they see or do on the video games.Game controllers are so sophisticated and the games are so realistic that simulating the violent acts enhances the learning of those violent behaviors. M-rated video games expose teens something that they should not mimic or get involved with. According to procon.org, Violent video games require active participation and identification with violent characters, which reinforces violent behavior. Young children are more likely to confuse fantasy violence with real world violence, and without a framework for ethical decision making, they may mimic the actions they see in violent video …show more content…
Some m-rated video games can influence a teen to steal things. Stealing things is something that teens should not get involved with. One thing that these games influence is the stealing of cars. Stealing cars is a big deal because it puts the teen in danger as well as other divers on the road. One could be seriously injured due to the fact that teens that are younger doesn't know what he/she is doing and that they are just doing it for fun and aren't seeing the downside of it. In the video games the player can't get hurt if they get into an accident. In a teens mind they probably think it's just like they video game and can't nothing happen to them but in reality they can have someone killed, maybe even themselves. In one case, a teen girl stole her mother’s car and went on a reckless drive around the neighborhood. She did not show any courtesy about anything as she was driving. She was driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, cutting people off, and driving of road. The teen could have really hurt herself and many other.
In several cases around the world, the influence of violent video games has took its course on a number teens. Many teens have played these violent video games and went to the real world thinking that they can copy the violent things they do on the video games.
