Unit 8 Understanding Safegaurding Of Children And Young People
Unit 7 -Understand safeguarding of children and young people (for those working in the adult sector)

1.1 The aim of the policy is to ensure that children and young people who are service users, or who are family or dependents of service users, are given the best possible opportunity to achieve positive outcomes and are protected from abuse or other harm
The objectives of the policy are to ensure:
That all staff, students and volunteers are aware of and follow Local Safeguarding Children’s Board Procedures which take precedence over any local Safeguarding Children’s Procedures, if there are any significant differences
That all staff, students and volunteers are trained in safeguarding children policy and procedures.
That safe recruitment practices are followed, this will include training for those responsible for appointing staff, robustly scrutinising all references and seeking other checks at the appropriate level e.g. CRB, ISA etc
That these policies, and Safeguarding practices are developed, improved and reviewed annually.

The policy relates to all staff, volunteers and students in services whether they work directly with children, young people (or adults). policies are produced to promote the safeguarding of children and young people by ensuring all staff, volunteers, students on placement, and partner agencies involved in service delivery, work to promote children and young people’s welfare and are aware of their legal and procedural responsibilities and action to take if they suspect abuse or neglect of a child or young person, or are aware of any behaviour that could put a child or young person at risk. and in accordance with The Children Acts 1989 & 2004 a ‘child or young person’ is defined as anyone under the age of 18 (including unborn children).
