Unit 8 Assignment 1
Unit 8 Assignment 1
Spotlight on Written Reflection When doing the interview with a peer, I decided to interview a friend of mine who is a professional snake breeder. With this, came many difficulties. We were unable to do an interview face to face because of location, namely me being in South Georgia and him being in New Jersey. We decided to text, resulting in a little bit of confusion because he has a tendency to send long messages, which his phone will break up into separate messages, and my phone will get them out of order so I am trying to figure out what he is sending me, all while he is still sending me more. Another complication was that he was trying to make sure I understood the topic correctly, so instead of me asking him questions for the first hour, he asked me questions instead. After a while, he sent me a message saying that it would be easier to call me and talk to me. This created a new problem because I was in class and unable to answer my phone. As I type him a message to tell him I was in class and unable to talk on the phone, he is calling me repeatedly. Finally, after a few ignored calls while I send him one message, he tells me to send all of my questions to him in an email. He was able to return the email only after a few hours, answering all of my questions correctly and to the best of his knowledge. He also decided to leave me additional notes to use for my paper as well as some clarifications, namely that the appropriate term is to “discover” a new morph instead of “create.”

The evolution of the Ethernet standards will have a large effect on data storage requirements. As the speeds of these connections continue to increase, users and businesses will be able to transfer larger files faster and will required larger data storage to accommodate the increased demand of resources. Thirty years ago, when the standard was only 10MB, there was nowhere near the need for the data storage capacity as there is today, with the current standard being 100 Gbit, with 1 Tbit on the way. Data storage wasn’t as high in demand before because it would take an extremely long amount of time to transfer large files, but as the speed increases, so will the demand.…

He is really goofy and likes to make jokes all the time I guess you would say he isn’t your average uptight professor. When we met I took a folder with me that had my previous project in it and a rough draft of my new paper. He already knew who I was so I didn’t have to introduce myself. We started off by talking about my previous paper he told me that the mistakes I make are minor and can be fixed simple by just rereading my writing. He complemented me on how my flow of writing is he said I have good ideals when I write I just need to know how to word them in a different way. Then we went to talk about the rough draft that I brought with me, he marked it up a little bit by putting commas where they needed to be and fixing misspelled words. He told me a common mistake I make in my writing is run on sentences but he told me not to worry about it because we would talk about it more in…

A man sharing my bus seat kept on gazing me with a sly smile, or so I thought. Countless things were going in my head on how I need to be reacting in that situation. After a while, he started talking, asking me a couple of questions. At that moment, my mind went blank, I did not know how I should respond to those questions. It was quite surprising to see him giving me an ample amount of time, and waiting for me to speak without showing any form of exasperation. Recollecting my thoughts and holding my composure, I started answering hesitantly and anxiously hoping not to sound silly. However, gradually, we seem to be going along well and only when his bus stop arrived, I realized that we have been talking for more than twenty minutes. It was the first time as far as I could remember that I was able to interact with a stranger for such a long time without making any excuses for ending the…

He finally called at 12:30, calling my cell-phone (after I’d given him my home number, saying that was the best way to reach me), leaving a message saying we’d have to reschedule. I left for lunch and a walk to clear my head at 12:45, and finally got the message at 2:45 when I got home and wondered if maybe he’d called the cell-phone. At this point, I don’t know if I’m even going to bother trying again. Apparently my offer of services isn’t worth enough for him to call me when he said he was going to, which makes me wonder why I should bother helping out.…

I first met Engr. Pineda as my professor back when I was in First Year (Advanced Programming Languages in C) , back then, things were just inside the classroom – lectures, quizzes, exercises which brought my confidence back after losing my scholarship during the previous term but things turned different when I was in my Third Year and he became our thesis mentor. He turned out to be the #1 Supporter to what we have wanted in the first place, the Alumni Tracer for FEU – East Asia College. Despite both parties having to adjust to the situation of having a part-time mentor last year, we both exerted effort to follow-up and communicate with each other. Since I was always doing the documentation portion of most our projects, I was the one responsible for making follow-ups with the mentor, which happened to be Mr. Pineda. I took it as my responsibility to stay late, meet him after classes for checking and even go straight to his FEU Main class just to finish the proposal for our thesis. Unfortunately, our second term was cut short after failing the proposal defense – but when things thought that it was the end of our mentorship with Engr. Pineda, we were wrong. He stayed…
