To allow for flexible management, this ICS is a system not a structure allowing adaption to suit a variety of applications. Each role is structurally integral and must be performed to manage the incident. The roles are interlocking allowing use by a single officer for small scale incidents (traffic crash) or multiple officers for large scale responses (major crime scene/siege). The roles are not rank specific and delegation will depend on the size and nature of the incident (QPS 2016 p.1.10). At the commencement of an incident it is vital to establish command, control and coordinate a response (QPS 2016, p.1.13).…

There was so much information to learn in Introduction to University Writing, it is hard for me to say what was the most important to me. Unit 1, Good Writers are Made Not Born refreshed me on the basics of writing with common misspelled words, punctuation basics , verb tenses and plurals (Chambers, 2015). I really needed this refresher on the basics of writing or the consequences might have been disastrous the farther I got into my college career. The next thing that helped me out immensely was when we worked with APA and how we learned to use the “cite” tool on EBSCO, along with using the website www. Bibme.org to make sure we use the right APA format to reference our sources. I also felt that it was very important that my facilitator recommended her students to look for an outside source, such as the Smarthinking lab or www.paperrater.com to review our writings before our final submission.…

The National Response Framework is a single comprehensive approach to domestic incident management. “It is an all-hazards plan built on the template of the national incident management system” (National Response Framework, n.d). I believe that the recommendations on how to respond to disasters and acts of terrorism are sufficient. This framework can be used to respond to any type of incident and it is flexible, it also allows specific authorities to communicate effectively and provide the best response when managing different incidents. It allows personnel and agencies to effectively share-information and meet the unique operational requirements of any situation. The NRF has allowed various agencies at all governmental levels and private…

Some potential advantages and challenges associated with communicating within the organization and with the public and private sectors are principles of collaboration. No single sector is prepared with all the resources, knowledge and capability necessary to respond to large scale disasters. Public, private and nonprofit entities must work together to ensure safe communities when preparing for and responding to emergencies. Other challenges that may arise are increased population density, increased population settlement, increased technology hazards or dependency, increased risk of terrorism, emerging infectious disease and increased global and international travel ("Effective Risk and Crisis Information", 2012).…
